A stroll through Innsbruck’s Old Town is likely to make you feel as though you’ve stumbled into a fairytale. The medieval architecture against the backdrop of the Nordkette mountains is the stuff dreams are made of, and it gets even better: the Old Town is also home to a variety of bars for all your late night adventures, with a great destination to drink happily ever after for every style and budget. Here’s some of our favorite to visit during a night on the town.

Café-Bar Moustache

Moustache

What’s not to love about a well kept Moustache? Tucked away from the tourist hoards, this little dive keeps it classy so you can recharge in peace after a frenzied day on your feet. Don’t underestimate the food menu, either: although short and sweet, it packs a serious punch, and includes vegetarian options such as a scrumptious falafel plate that leaves little room for dessert. As far as drinks go, Moustache has a solid list of beer, wine and spirits on offer, as well as a few particularly decadent house specials (like the Deadly Moustache) that will lure you into staying well past your cut-off. Come relax in this old-world-meets-quirky-hipster haven with good friends, great drinks, and some quality pub grub.

Lichtblick Gastro

With a constantly changing menu featuring exquisitely presented creations made from the best available produce from the area, you are hard pressed to have a better foodie experience in Innsbruck then Lichtblick Gastro. They also have one of the most impressive wine lists in the city, with a wide range of Austrian bottles and special imports from all over the world. Clean lines and urban architecture create a minimal, zen-like atmosphere, putting food and pleasure at center stage. Crack open a bottle of one of Austria’s finest wines, and take in arresting panoramic views of the Old Town while you linger over the best wining and dining experience in town.

Erlkönig Bar

Whether you’re in need of a serious cocktail binge with friends, or want to start your evening off on the right foot with a glass of crisp Prosecco before heading on to your next adventure, Erlkönig Bar is a great choice for every phase of your night out. This upscale joint offers a comprehensive list of spirits and imaginative mixed drinks, as well as an extensive wine collection. The décor is a successful marriage between cozy and suave, and the staff is dressed accordingly: smart and debonair, but always friendly. One caveat: cigarettes are permitted here, so non-smokers come at your own risk. (Smokers, on the other hand, come as you are.)

Café Music Bar Zappa

If you’re feeling a little rowdy, head over to Zappa Bar for a wild night out. Located directly at the International Student House, Zappa is known for its hip, laid back style and the young crowd it attracts. Psychedelic murals of famous musicians cover Zappa’s walls, and they play their music (a range of classic to indie rock) cranked all the way up to honor the greats. If your plans for the evening involve philosophical discussions over a glass of finely aged whiskey, you may want a quieter venue, but if you’re looking for cheap beer, a big cocktail list, and an easygoing vibe where no one will judge you for wearing your favorite grubby sneakers, this is the place for you.

Piano Bar

If music, great food and drinks are on your agenda, Piano Bar hits all the marks. Housed in one of Innsbruck’s oldest buildings with walls covered in beautifully framed artwork, Piano Bar offers an intimate, old world atmosphere and mouth watering Austrian cuisine. Come for the excellent steak or pork Schnitzel, and stay for the local craft beer, superb wine list, and live musical performances. No secret with the locals, Piano Bar fills up fast, so make sure to reserve ahead.
