Jewellery makes a great holiday souvenir – wearing it can remind you of your trip and well-crafted pieces will last a lifetime. From glitzy and glamorous golden hoops to understated bracelets made entirely with cow’s horn, here is our pick of the best jewellery stores in Austria’s capital of Vienna.

SchmuckStück

SchmuckStück is a relatively new shop and was launched just five years ago. Originally opened in the 8th district in Vienna, it has now moved to trendy Neubau, which the owners chose for its “colourfulness and creativity”. Headed by designer Sabina Ebner, the jewellery at this store features small and fine boutique jewels for delicate and modern designs. Custom designs are also available for those who want something bespoke.

FREYWILLE

Freywille is an upmarket boutique with an ever-changing creative collection. Usually inspired by art, architecture and even philosophy (previous collections have been based on the work of Austrian artists Klimt, Schiele and Hundertwasser) they craft unique pieces that can be adjusted to suit the wearer. “Creativity is at the source of everything we do,” they say. “It is what drives us to produce artistic creations that inspire our clients and underline their personal style.” One of their boutiques is located directly beneath the iconic Stephansdom cathedral – the perfect setting for such a unique store.

Anna Inspiring Jewellery

With stores in London and New York as well as Vienna this Austrian company has gone far since it started 10 years ago. Delicately crafted using only the finest materials, this jewellery store is dedicated to providing their customers with elegant designs that suit their personalities. Their studio is located at the very heart of Vienna and is run by a small team of eight who use only the best materials.

ANITA MÜNZ

Crafted using horns (collected ethically, after the cows have died from natural causes), Münz’s jewellery is both beautiful and unusual. Each item is created by hand in her studio and bespoke items are available. From simple chunky rings to more elaborate chain necklaces, there is something for everyone’s taste. Furthermore, the jewellery is completely sustainable so you can wear it with pride.
