It doesn’t get more remote than this Portuguese archipelago far out in the Atlantic. The isolation here is next level, as are the utterly spectacular volcanic landscapes, as towering as they are bright green. As well as being home to an understandably unique and tight-knit community, this is like one big playground for outdoor adventurers. On our six-day trip you’ll get to cycle and kayak around the Sete Cidades crater lakes, spot whales and dolphins on a marine safari and abseil down waterfalls. There’s more, too, including a hike around Furnas Lake, a dip in natural rock pools and a well-earned soak in some mineral-rich hot springs. Meanwhile foodie’s will have their minds blown when we cook a traditional cozido stew using natural geothermal energy.
