Seven days is all you need to transport yourself around the magical landscapes of rugged rural Scotland, but this trip starts in London Euston Station, where we’ll catch the overnight Caledonian sleeper train. After ingratiating ourselves with the local customs – a whisky tasting at a local distillery – we’ll continue the locomotive theme by hopping onboard the iconic Jacobite steam train, most famously standing in as the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter movies. Gaze in our at the spectacular green valleys and rocky mountains that trace our journey west, across Glenfinnan Viaduct and over to Mallaig. From there we’ll explore the Isle of Skye and Cairngorms National Park before ending the week in the ever-charming capital, Edinburgh.
Eight days of island-hopping in the Med – what’s not to love? Before we hit the high seas you’ll get the chance to explore Athens, visiting the Acropolis and discovering the many secrets of the hip Keramikos neighbourhood. Then it’s time to cruise on over to the Cycleadic island of Milos, where hidden coves and quaint fishing villages provide a more serene feel than some of Greece’s more famous islands. We’ll keep it calm over on Naxos, renowned for its ancient ruins and gorgeous beaches, before ending the trip in Santorini. Sunset views over those iconic blue-domed, whitewashed buildings – there’s no better place to reflect on an amazing week, cocktail in hand.
Join us in Central American paradise for eight days of adventure that blends volcanic wonders with jungle exploration and some beach time to cap it all off. We’ll start by sipping volcanic coffee, spotting sloths in a rainforest and soaking in natural hot springs in Arenal Volcano National Park, before heading up to a country lodge in the mountains, where you’ll get to take a Costa Rican cooking class. You’ll explore the country’s otherworldly cloud forests, keeping an eye out for howler monkeys and pumas, before heading towards the North Pacific Coast. We’ll go white-water rafting down Tenorio River en route to the laid-back beach town of Tamarindo, where you can enjoy long stretches of sand, try yoga, go mountain biking or take a surf lesson. Not bad for just over a week’s exploring.
As far as exploring goes, it doesn’t get much more adventurous than the Atlantic archipelago of the Azores. Their remoteness offers a soothing break from reality, and the dramatic volcanic landscapes, covered in luscious vegetation, make it one big adventure playground. You’ll only need six days on São Miguel island with us to explore the luminescent crater lakes of Sete Cidades – first by cycling around them, then by kayaking on them – hike around Furnas Lake, go abseiling down waterfalls and swimming in rock pools in Ribeira dos Caldeirões, plus heading out on a marine safari to spot dolphins and whales. Bring the pulse down a little by soaking in hot springs and cooking a traditional cozido stew using the island’s natural geothermal energy.
If you’re after guaranteed glorious weather and a balance between exploration and relaxation, this eight-day trip along Croatia’s Dalmatian coast is just the ticket. You’ll start in Split and end up in Dubrovnik, giving you the chance to explore two of Croatia’s most charming coastal cities, characterised by an eclectic mix of architectural styles. In between, you’ll stop in Hvar, renowned for its vibrant nightlife, pebble beaches and atmospheric old town, and take a day trip to the island of Vis – a former Yugoslav military base, which was closed to the public from the 1950s until 1989. Hop over to Korčula, where you’ll cycle past olive groves and pine forests en route to a wine tasting session in Lumbarda. The opportunity to taste fresh oysters on the Pelješac Peninsula is another notable highlight.
