Suites in this family-friendly hotel at the Atlantis resort sleep up to six and come with chic white decor, balconies and tiled flooring. There’s a teen nightclub, as well as an ice-cream parlor and, of course, access to the supreme Atlantis facilities, which include 11 pools and a huge waterpark. Riu Palace is set on a mile-long (1.6km) stretch of Cabbage Beach, which lies on Paradise Island. The sophisticated adult-only resort has five restaurants and two bars, plus a gym, sports facilities and a spa. Rooms boast high ceilings, and there’s an ultra-modern theme, with hints of Art Deco and colonial-style design. Guests spend plenty of time in the two pools, one of which lies oceanfront and has a swim-up bar.

Coral Sands Hotel lies on a quiet eastern beach also on Harbour Island, with its striking pink sands. Rooms are spread over eight acres (3.2ha) of gardens and include one- and two-bed cottages, as well as a three-bed villa.
