The Best Cafes and Coffee Shops in Nha Trang, Vietnam

Runam Bistro

Nha Trang, perhaps best known for boasting one of the most beautiful coastlines of the world, has an up and coming cafe scene worth checking out when you are in town. If you get tired of doing absolutely nothing at the beach, then head to one of these air-conditioned venues with a good book or your laptop, order a nice cold cup of ca phe sua da (Vietnamese ice coffee) and waste the rest of the day away. These are our absolute favorite spots in the city.

Alpaca Homestyle Café

Alpaca is often the first recommendation for a good café in Nha Trang. Owned by a lovely Russian couple, this café has everything you need; great coffee, delicious food, chill out vibes, and fast and friendly service. A little outside the beach/tourist area in Nha Trang, the entrance to Alpaca Homestyle Café is camouflaged in a tiny, inconspicuous doorway, that hides a staircase leading upstairs. You will be welcomed with cheery decorations, lighthearted quotes on the walls, sunlit seating and mismatched chairs tucked under tables. The menu is vegetarian friendly, but meat lovers have their options too. Try the chicken fajitas! The place may be a little expensive compared to your average Vietnamese choice, but the dishes are reasonably portioned and therefore, priced. A bonus – the second floor has a kids play area to keep children occupied!

City Fox Café is known mostly for its unique and creative interior. With brick walls, cozy couches and a minimalist design, you will probably find half of Nha Trang’s youth spending their time inside, sipping coffee and hanging out on their phones or with their friends. Besides the comfortable space, the food and drinks are fantastic, and the diverse menu is constantly updated to suit the ever-changing tastes of its patrons. You will not only find coffee and tea, but also fresh juices, various pastries and fast food such as pizza, hamburgers and potato chips. With both outdoor and indoor seating, City Fox Café makes for the perfect venue to sit out a Nha trang storm in comfort.

Cuppa Coffee

Cafe, Coffee Shop, Dessert, Tea , Coffee

This café is popular with international patrons and locals, and you are likely to find a lot of expats recommending this venue for a coffee. Located on Biet Thu Road, Cuppa Coffee checks off everything on the list – delicious coffee and tea, great snacks, friendly and enthusiastic staff, fantastic ambiance and awesome location. Their signature drink is ice blended coffee, but make sure to try their blueberry smoothie and banana fritters for a fruity evening. Another plus are the homemade cakes made by the owner.

Alley Café

Bar, Cafe, Restaurant, American, European, Vietnamese, Seafood, Asian

Alley Café is what you would call a hidden gem, as the name suggests. Another venue popular among expats in Nha Trang, this is a great spot to find drinks and food. With a Western-oriented menu, they are known for their fish and chips, and their pancakes. Some would even go so far to say that they have the best garlic bread not just in Nha Trang, but in all of Vietnam. If you start your day off with some morning coffee and pancakes, nothing else can really go wrong. Here’s another plus: at night it turns into a fun bar.

This is right opposite the Intercontinental Nha Trang located on the lively beach strip of Tran Phu. Runam Bistro is a popular chain throughout Vietnam and a favorite among locals and expats alike. Among all Runam Bistros in Vietnam, the one in Nha Trang has the most beautiful view and interior. It is located right opposite the Intercontinental Nha Trang, on the lively beach strip of Tran Phu. With paper origami cranes hanging from the ceiling, beige color interior, cozy couches and a fantastic menu of drinks and Asian and Western fusion dishes to go with, this makes for the perfect venue to enjoy a few hours with some good company. If you are a coffee aficionado, give the marrochino, a blend between Italian cappuccino and Vietnamese traditional milk coffee, a go, and if you end up falling in love with Runam Bistro but have to leave Nha Trang, don’t worry, there’s another in Saigon.

Cozy

This little eco-friendly coffee and tea shop is constructed entirely out of wood, has fantastic indoor and outdoor seating and if it’s a stuffy day, has a cool air-conditioned section in the back. It’s a very tranquil and retro looking place, with fish ponds inside, huge mechanical clocks, all surrounded by vintage displays of Vietnam in a jungle, and to top it all off, has fantastic coffee and tea. It is mainly visited by locals so is truly a gem for travelers. And Café Nha Trang is great if you want some time to yourself to plan the next leg of your journey or to sit in silence and read a book or browse the internet. It also makes for a very romantic date. 😉
