More upscale and a bit removed from the rest of the city, District 7 is a modern area that many expats call home. The distance from the city centre can make the clutter-less streets feel almost suburban. As a result the nightlife is not as loud, rowdy or in-your-face as many other wards, yet there are still some nice bars

Ruby Soho Saigon

Bar, Restaurant, Vietnamese, Beer, Wine

One of Saigon’s best rock bars, Ruby Soho is covered from head to toe in photos and paintings of film and music heroes of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. With the sounds of The Clash or Led Zeppelin bellowing through this cosy joint, it’s the type of place to go to let the madness of the city fade into the distance. Ruby Soho also hosts a terrific trivia night every Thursday at 8.

Pitchers Sports Bar and Grill

Bar, Beer, Wine, Cocktails, Pub Grub, Vietnamese

One of the best sports bars in District 7, Pitchers houses two projectors, a number of TV’s tuned in to international competitions, and a pool table. There are some great IPA’s on draft and fantastic Western food. The ribs and burgers are both outstanding.

The Tavern

Bar, Restaurant, Contemporary, British, Vegetarian, Beer, Wine, Vietnamese

A very popular darts and pool bar in Phu My Hung, The Tavern serves up some of the better British pub food in the area. It’s a great place to catch the game and an even better venue to enjoy a free open mic night. Theirs is one of the most fun in town. If you’ve got the nerve, hop on stage, there’s a free beer waiting for you when it’s done.

Boomerang

Restaurant, Australian, European

Boomerang is a nice Aussie pub in the ever-popular Crescent area of District 7. With terrific views of the lake and a nice outdoor seating area, this is a fun spot to come after work as Saigon’s dizzying heat begins to fade. A number of large flat screens guarantee a crowd for any big game.
