Têt, or Lunar New Year, is a time for celebration in Vietnam. Family and friends gather together, often travelling from across the world to be with their loved ones. Bright colours, flowers and fireworks can be seen throughout cities as the celebrations get into full swing. While there’s plenty of time for revelry, Têt is also a time for worship and reflection.

This photo journal will guide you through the rituals of Têt through the eyes of the Phan family, a three-generation Buddhist household in the imperial city of Hue, Vietnam, as they decorate and prepare for the Lunar New Year.
