Visitors once travelled to Can Tho for its floating markets, now they are staying for eco-chic stays, Vietnamese cooking classes and bike rides along the Mekong.

Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi are well-trodden cities on the tourist map. But Can Tho, the largest city on the Mekong Delta, is quietly garnering admiration with its eco-hideaways and planet-friendly activities. Here we take a look at some of the best.

Take another bamboo bridge to the Riverside Restaurant where you can enjoy hotpot or try your hand at a Vietnamese cooking class.

As it’s in the middle of Can Tho all the sights are on your doorstep. But if you’re weary from all that sightseeing, they also offer room service.

We love the welcoming splashes of colour that decorate the halls and the cutesy kitchen with its hodge-podge collection of wooden stools and Chinese seats. The tropical colours can also be found in your chosen suite or dorm, along with minimalist furniture and a stylish bathroom. If you need a java jolt there is an onsite coffee shop. While it’s close to the river and one of Can Tho’s largest malls, it’s also away from the hustle and bustle.
