Another top summer destination with beach clubs and major hotels and resorts, Bodrum’s beaches can be quite remote and quiet if you know where to look. We chose some of the beaches that are a bit removed from the main touristic areas.

Ilgın Cove

Located in the village of Mazı, you’ll need a car to get to this particular beach, which is a favourite among locals and not yet populated by tourists. After a bit of an arduous drive down the hill from the village, you’ll find a lovely isolated beach where you’ll need to bring your own food and drinks because of the lack of any services. However, this is exactly why Ilgın is so great because you can really take in the beauty of the sea and its surrounding nature without being disturbed.

Gümüşlük

One of Bodrum’s most down-to-earth areas, Gümüşlük is still mostly populated by locals who come to eat at one of the many great fish restaurants and shop at the arts and crafts shops. Gümülük also has lovely little guesthouses that are right by the water, which means you can spend the entirety of your vacation here, just hanging out by the beach during the day and eating out in the evening. Make sure to watch the sunset at Limon, Gümüşlük’s most beautiful restaurant that also has some excellent Turkish food.

Akyarlar

An often overlooked area of the Bodrum peninsula, Akyarlar is a great place for escaping the main tourist city centre. With its secluded bay, market-town vibe and bird’s eye view of the Greek island of Kos, you’ll be very happy to spend your day at the beach and heading to one of the many fish restaurants in the evening.

Kisebükü

Another beautiful cove in Mazı, you’ll have to head to this isolated beach during the off-season or on the weekdays in order to really relish in its beauty without the local crowds. With the historic remains of a church and a hamam scattered all around, the beach is also a favourite among boat tours who stop here. You’ll definitely need a car and some good driving skills to get to this beach, but the beautiful view will definitely be worth your troubles.

Kargı Beach

Bodrum’s southern flank has some of the best beaches, far away from its overtly touristic reputation. Kargı is one of the first on the list because it’s quieter than most of the other beaches in Bodrum. Here, you’ll find a lovely sandy beach overlooked by Bodrum’s white villas and a few delicious fish restaurants.
