The natural landscape of Turkey is stunning, including everything from remote mountain villages to Mediterranean beaches, and much more. Of course, waterfalls are also part of the natural wonders, and we’ve rounded up the best to visit on your next trip.

Want to visit Turkey but not sure where to start with planning your itinerary? Why not join Culture Trip’s specially curated 12-day Turkey adventure, led by our local insider?

Düden Waterfalls

The Düden Waterfalls are separated into an upper and lower area, all of which are located in Antalya. The Dudenbaşı Waterfall (upper) is where locals go to cool off in the picnic areas all around. It also has an amazing cave behind the flowing water that can be accessed via a narrow staircase. Streams from Dudenbaşı end up flowing into the lower waterfall, which goes directly into the Mediterranean from a rather dramatic drop (best viewed from a boat on the water).

Erikli Waterfall

The Erikli Waterfall is hidden away among the trees. The mountain village of the same name is also very much worth a visit, especially for hiking enthusiasts who will love the village’s many blooming fruit trees.

Ucansu Waterfall

One of the more undiscovered natural wonders of the Mediterranean region, the Ucansu Waterfall is situated among lush pine trees and is quite an impressive sight for those who discover it.

Manavgat Waterfall

Sourced from the eastern part of the mighty Taurus Mountains, waters flow through mountains, forests, and canyons, finally ending up at the waterfall in Manavgat town centre. The result is a beautifully wide waterfall that may not be high but definitely has a lot of power and beauty. Manavgat River is also a great place to take a boat tour, which includes stops to take a cool dip in the river.

Ilıca Waterfall

Located at the edge of the Ilıca village, Ilıca Waterfall can be reached by foot on a lovely path that takes around 30 minutes. Flowing down from a height of around 10m (33ft), the waterfall is notable for all the beautiful flora that surrounds it as well as its beautiful lake where the water pools together.

Kuşunlu Waterfall

The Kurşunlu Waterfall is especially notable for the beautiful pine trees all around the area (perfect for hiking) as well as the canyon, which shapes the waterfall. After an around-10m (33ft) drop, the waterfall flows into a freshwater pool with many inhabitants such as tortoise, crab, and fish. The area also has picnic areas where locals and visitors relax in nature as well as a restored mill.

Muradiye Waterfall

With fantastic scenery, the large Muradiye Waterfall is impressive, especially in the winter when the water freezes. In the summer, visitors can cool down in the shade of the nearby forest as well as touring the other natural beauties of the Van region.

Tortum Waterfall

Incredibly tranquil, Tortum Waterfall is located north of Erzurum in Eastern Anatolia. With a fall of 48m (157ft), Tortum flows into a beautiful lake that is surrounded by recreational areas including an observation platform where visitors can see the waterfall up close.

Tatlıca Waterfall

Another natural wonder belonging to Turkey’s Black Sea region, the Tatlıca Waterfall drops down from a height of 15m (49ft) into the Karasu River alongside a beautiful natural environment. Visitors often continue following the river in order to gaze at the many other waterfalls in the area. Tatlıca is also a great place to camp in the summer and autumn season between May and November.
