A Guide To Shopping On Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok
Traveling around the city of Bangkok to explore its massive shopping scene can be an intimidating task. One might feel as if every hour is rush hour, with cars overtaking crisscrossing with a vengeance. One of the easiest ways to avoid this inevitable traffic is to simply travel above it, on the BTS skytrain. With so many destinations to choose from, however, how do you know which stops are the best for shopping? That is where we come in. Here’s our a guide to shopping on Sukhumvit Road.
Mochit
If you’re in the mood for some cheap clothing and interesting crowds, go to the first stop on the BTS Skytrain, Mochit, to visit Chatuchak Weekend Market and JJ Green Night Market. This is one stop off Sukhumvit Road that won’t break the bank when it comes to shopping. These markets are only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday though. Usually vendors at JJ Green Night Market will start to set up shop after 5:30 p.m.

Victory Monument
About a five-minute walk from BTS Skytrain stop Victory Monument is King Power Complex and Century Mall. King Complex has scores of designer brands, if you have the means. Century Mall is essentially an indoor market, with cheap clothing and food throughout. We suggest starting at King Power Complex, then head down to Century Mall to give your wallet a much needed break.

Siam
Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery: the Siam trio is taking Bangkok by storm. Their unique boutiques and stores, in collaboration with their jaw-dropping interiors, are enough to make even the most avid shopper stop for a moment to take it all in. There are also plenty of small stores on the streets surrounding these mega malls, including Siam Square One.

Chit Lom
BTS Skytrain stop Chit Lom is one of the best stops on our list, partly because of the sheer volume of shopping at this one, single destination. There are several malls within walking distance of Sukhumvit Road, including Palladium World Shopping Mall, Central World, The Platinum Fashion Mall and Amarin Plaza.
Central World has super interesting designs and decor throughout, as well as eight levels of shopping madness. tart on level one, filled with women’s clothing and health, beauty and hair products. As you continue up this massive mall, you will find everything from electronics to eyewear.
Asok
Terminal 21 has everything, regardless of your shopping needs. From cheap, vendor-style stores wrapping in and out of makeshift indoor “streets” to name brand clothing, no one will leave this epic mall disappointed.
