Getting the body you want in Bangkok just got a whole lot more fun. Lackluster gyms are a thing of the past in the capital, as fitness regimes and standard gyms continue to become more retro. From surfing indoors to neon spin classes, here are eight hip studios where you can get a great workout in Bangkok.

Virgin Active Fitness Club

Virgin Active Fitness Club is surely the king of all things fitness. It all began in 1999 with Sir Richard Branson, and the gym has since grown exponentially, with locations all over the globe. 10 countries, 243 clubs, and over 1.4 million members: these people know what they’re doing. Each club is equipped with up to date equipment and technology, including swimming pools, boxing arenas, and spinning studios. There are five locations in the capital alone, and each one is located in a trendy part of town. There is no shortage of options at Virgin Active Fitness Club either in regard to classes. With everything from conditioning, dance, combat, cycling, and more, gym-goers are sure to find the perfect way in which to get their sweat on.

Surfset Thailand

No beach? No problem. Surfset Thailand is offering a unique way to hang ten in the heart of the city. Participants are challenged to take on the fitness classes atop nothing other than a surfboard, feeling like Beyonce as they swerve (on that big body) through a number of fitness classes offered at the studio. Surfset Thailand offers four different types of classes: balance, burn, build, and blend. Each one targets different strengths and skills, making it easy for participants to pick a class that best aligns with their fitness goals. The number of classes per day differs, with usually somewhere between 3-5 to choose from.

The LAB

Get ready to sweat at The LAB, a relatively new fitness center off both Silom and Sukhumvit. There are group fitness classes, personal trainers, private group training (otherwise known as BYOB: bring your own buddies), combat training, and more available at The LAB. Muay Thai is extremely popular all over the country, and this is one gym that offers personal training sessions in the national sport of Thailand. Drop in classes for 30 minutes start at ฿450. Classes run all day long, so those hoping to get their sweat on should not worry about attending a class at any particular time of day. The gym itself is spacious and open, with both floor to ceiling windows and mirrors for participants to enjoy.

She found that her work day was becoming too stressful, and she needed some balance in her life. Now, ten studios later and herds of fellow yogis participating in classes and more, Absolute You is bringing their health and lifestyle evolution to many. Prices start at ฿750 per class.

Those looking for real results should look no further than Base Bangkok. Many gyms and programs offer nothing but empty promises, but this gym is different. The team at Base Bangkok combines both high-intensity interval training, otherwise known as HITT, with sweat-inducing strength training. This optimizes fat burning and builds lean muscle. Gym-goers can also track how far they have come with the help of Base Bangkok’s team, who are there every step of the way. The gym has a number of different amenities available, including group classes, personal training, private group training, and even pre and post-natal training. There are a multitude of classes available throughout the day, making it easy for gym-goers to workout around busy schedules. The more sessions bought, the more affordable the price is, as well. Both sessions and hour packages are available for purchase, and prices start at ฿400.
