Home to the ever popular Taipei 101 and countless high-end stores and boutiques, Xinyi District in Taipei City has a reputation for being one of the most expensive areas in the city. And while the neighborhood’s many bars, clubs, and restaurants uphold this reputation, there are quite a few inexpensive places to get breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Here are some of the best.

Long Yue Xuan

Lin Jia Yao Beef Noodles

A vegetarian steamed bun store that is renowned for its healthy snacks and overstuffed buns. Customers really can’t get over just how much the owners of this store can pack into each steamed bun. It’s incredible value for the money.

Tong Chang Dumpling House

A small local restaurant that specializes in traditional Taiwanese dumplings. Customers can watch staff prepare the dumplings by hand as they wait for their meal. The dumplings are said to be some of the best in the city, but that’s not all that’s on offer here. Other dishes include a choice of soups and fried rice among many others.

This family-run restaurant serves a variety of local Taiwanese dishes, but its specialty of braised pork over rice has made it a huge hit with the locals. The food is seriously tasty, and, while the portions may not look huge, it’s really very filling. Perfect lunch or dinner option.

This popular bakery also has its own restaurant serving both local and international made-to-order dishes. From the outside, it looks like any other bakery, but take a step inside and you’ll find a wonderful little restaurant with some pretty amazing dishes at very reasonable prices. On your way out you can buy some of their delicious freshly baked bread. Perfect spot at any time of the day.
