Sometimes referred to as the Gem of the East Coast, Hualien is one of the more relaxed cities of Taiwan. With such a laid-back way of life and so many interesting local attractions, it’s easy to see why this city is a popular tourist destination. And as such the city is full of hotels, hostels and guesthouses – here are some of the very best – now bookable on Culture Trip.

With its industrial-style concrete exterior, the Leaf Inn doesn’t seem like the most appealing of Taiwan hotels but underneath that minimalist veneer you’ll find a true gem in the heart of Hualien. This hotel is ultra-modern with some really tasteful decor in both the public areas and the rooms. Each has its own particular style and for a hotel in this price bracket, they are pretty luxurious.
