24 Instagram-Worthy Spots In Singapore

Singapore is easily one of the most instagram-worthy cities in the world, with its mix of old and new world architecture, cultural enclaves and stunning backdrops. Here, we round up our favourite spots around the Lion City.

Pulau Ubin

Pulau Ubin, Singapore’s famous bicycle island is a treasure-trove of Instagram-worthy nature spots including an old quarry, Singapore’s last traditional village, the mangroves and of course, everyone’s favourite Singlish sign.

Tanjong Pagar

Tanjong Pagar is home to The Pinnacle@Duxton, a marvel of public housing architecture and one of the biggest public housing projects in the world. The 50th storey skybridge spanning all seven towers is open to the public and offers incomparable views of the city including the port, Sentosa island, the central business district and Chinatown.

MacRitchie Reservoir

The MacRitchie Reservoir is a nature park located just a short distance from the city. One of the most popular activities at MacRitchie is the treetop walk, a suspension bridge connecting the two highest points in the park. Visitors also enjoy kayaking in the reservoir and seeing the monkeys that hang out along the boardwalk.

Tiong Bahru

Tiong Bahru Estate was one of the first public housing estates in Singapore, built in the 1930s. This neighbourhood is characterised by its ArtDeco architecture making for ideal retro backgrounds to your Instagram snaps. After you walk around the neighbourhood, stop by some of the cute cafes and shops for even more vintage inspiration.

Marina District

The Marina District is where you will find the most recent additions to Singapore’s collection of world-class architecture. The infinity pool at the Marina Bay Sands hotel has a place on many a bucket list (unfortunately, you need to be a guest – or at least befriend one – to get up here) also worthy of note are the hotel’s rooftop bar and the alien landscape of Gardens by the Bay.

Bugis

Bugis offers the highest concentration of Instagram-worthy locations and backgrounds, anywhere in the city. The difficulty with Haji Lane is getting a picture that doesn’t have a dozen other people in it that are doing the same thing! Taking pictures of the street art (with more on Bali Lane) is easier – angles are your friend. The Sultan Mosque looks down imposingly over the Arab Quarter and then down the street is The Projector, everyone’s favourite Instagrammable theatre with its (not-so-hidden) rooftop bar and retro vibe.

Little India

One of the most recognisable landmarks in Little India is the former home of businessman Tan Teng Niah. This house, located just outside the MRT entrance, is impossible to miss, but wander around this neighbourhood a little more and you’ll find plenty of other colourful scenes that will make your Instagram feed pop with colour.

Civic District

Revisit the founding of Singapore in the 1800s, with a stroll around the Civic District. The Ministry of Communications and Information is a popular location or impress your followers with pictures from inside the famous Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel.

Joo Chiat

The last location on our Instagram tour of Singapore is Joo Chiat. Head down to this East Coast neighbourhood to find the best of the old Peranakan shophouses in Singapore. Dating back to the mid-1930s, these were the homes of wealthy merchants who demonstrated their wealth through the ornate designs of their homes.
