Although Beirut is a cosmopolitan city best enjoyed by young adults and culture travelers, that doesn’t mean it can’t be the perfect family destination. The beaches, adventure venues, and activities make for a remarkable family vacation. Here is a list of the best family activities to do on your next visit to Beirut.

First, it is a picnic spot as people can rent picnic tables and grills to enjoy food in a safe outdoor environment. Also, Swings is a camping site with different types of tents provided, ranging from small one-person shelters for $20 to six-person cabin tents for $80. There are also opportunities to try activities such as tree-top swings, bungee trampolines, mountain biking and archery training. Indulge in an adventurous day or unforgettable weekend at Swings.
Rio Lento
Park
Rio Lento is one of Lebanon’s only water parks and definitely the most established. Designed by a true water activity enthusiast, the park has it all. Founded in 1999, it was the first venue of its kind in Lebanon and certainly earned its place on the list of top family activities. There are over five adrenaline fueled slides and four pools including a “waves” pool and diving pool. Rio Lento is also open for birthday bookings and there are strict safety rules and regimens employed to ensure optimum well-being.
The National Museum of Beirut
Building, Museum
For parents looking for an educational day out, The National Museum of Beirut is the place of choice. Over 1,300 artifacts from people who had occupied the land of Lebanon are exhibited in its halls. From the pre-historic age through the Hellenistic period and into the Islamic Era, the place provides a visual history of the land. It’s worth noting that the museum itself is an integral part of Lebanon’s history of war as it survived and was restored after being a weapons base during the Lebanese Civil War in the 1970s.
Arnaoon Village
A venue similar to Swings, Arnaoon Village requires a day trip from Beirut towards the North. The village is a venue for events, weekends and fun days out. There are a lot of family activities to be had at the place’s adventure park including zip lines, climbing, go-karting and much more. Explore this outdoor haven and spend an unforgettable day suitable for the whole family.

For the more relaxed family day out, enjoy a meal by the sea in Beirut’s posh Zaitounay Bay. Have breakfast, lunch or dinner and walk along the sea front. The place is one of the best venues for family photos and is definitely worth a visit.
Another venue for an educational day out, the Sursock Museum is perfect for those keen on art.
