Your cat is the most important thing in your life, always and forever. Even if you don’t quite believe that, your cat definitely does. And your favourite feline deserves the very best.

Forget snoozing in the sink and flopping on the floor, your cat needs this handmade, design-classic furniture from Japan.

This chic sofa and bed is sure to satisfy even the needs of the sleepiest moggy, and the make matters even cuter, you can get the matching furniture for yourself.

Don’t you want your cat to be this happy?

The campaign, called ‘craftsman MADE’, is hoped to reinvigorate the craft industry of Japan’s Fukuoka prefecture area. A hundred and fifty furniture manufacturers once thrived there, but it has suffered in recent years.

The furniture consists of a pine-wood sofa with khaki cushions and a clean-lined dark wood bed with a white mattress, both cat-sized.

You can buy human-sized furniture in the same design

The idea was created by Okawa Kagu, a design consortium of 12 artisans who work with tatami (traditional floor mats), furniture and lattice-making. They wanted to merge the internet’s love of cats with the skills they’ve practised for generations.

The campaign took full-scale designs of beautiful Japanese furniture and simply made them smaller, to produce high quality tiny versions.

The pieces are handmade by experts

Forget Ikea’s collection for animals and cheaply produced beds from the pet store – this is what your cat would want to sleep on if they could talk.

The sofa was made by Hiromatsu Furniture and the bed by Tateno Mokuzai. If you’re interested in making your cat very happy and buying a piece, contact each company via their website.
