Donguri, with the aim of becoming the No.1 okonomiyaki shop in Kyoto, has been striving for the unique taste of Kyoto okonomiyaki since 1977. While it offers both teppanyaki (food cooked on an iron griddle) and okonomiyaki, it is better known for the latter. Almost every ingredient in Donguri’s okonomiyaki recipe is from Kyoto, from Kyoto flour and rice to Kyoto vegetables and Kujo green onions. Even soy sauce and tofu are carefully selected from local manufacturers. Donguri allows diners to enjoy okonomiyaki in a restaurant setting rather than in a conventional street stall.

SUYA

What makes SUYA different from other places is definitely the DJ booth. While playing music, SUYA prepares the classic recipe of Kyoto grilled okonomiyaki for hungry diners and serves it with a decent selection of Japanese wine. It also offers different snacks and teppanyaki. SUYA has an open kitchen so you can see how your food is being prepared. This is one of a few new yet outstanding okonomiyaki places in Kyoto.

Okonomiyaki Kiraku

Okonomiyaki Kiraku, next to Kiyomizu-dera temple, is a good place to take a rest after touring temples and shrines. It serves delicious okonomiyaki at affordable and reasonable prices.
