One of Osaka’s major commercial districts and commuter centre, Kyobashi is full of people traveling through it every day. As a result, it is one of the most popular nightlife areas for locals outside of Shinsaibashi. Here are some of the best places to go for a drink in Kyobashi.

Situated a five minutes’ walk from the Kyobashi JR Station, Bar Muddy Water is a local establishment that is a great place to hang out. The bar has an impressive selection of liquor, with attractive cocktails, bottles of wine, and both local and international beers.

This cocktail bar, located just five minutes away from the Kyobashi JR Station, boasts a fabulous drinks menu, which features not only cocktails and beers but also sake and other Japanese wines. They have a “seasonal cocktail” which is made using the fruits that are ripe in the current season. The walls of the bar are decorated with old American posters and photos, and the atmosphere is completed with ambient music from the 1970s.

Nakanoya (なかの家)

Step into this traditional izakaya, or Japanese tavern, to enter the past and depart from the hustle and bustle of modern Japan. Most of the seating in this atmospheric establishment are in private rooms, which are furnished with tatami mats and a low table. While a small range of alcoholic beverages are available, no visit to an izakaya is complete without sake. Nakanoya has a great selection of the drink, accompanied by delicious Japanese dishes made from fresh ingredients.

If you’re looking for something modern, try The Garden Oriental Osaka. They use the best ingredients and the quality is augmented by the skill of a the chefs and sommeliers. Their service is also highly commendable, as the staff are all very attentive. A firm local favourite in the Kyobashi district, Base is situated a five-minute walk away from the Kyobashi JR Station. This wine bar offers a huge range of wines from all over the world at reasonable prices, and you can ask the staff for recommendations. The shop is on the second floor of a building, giving an amazing view over the small streets of Kyobashi.

Beer Kado (ビアカド)

This beer pub is decorated in a friendly and welcoming way, as it uses a warm palette and wooden decor, with a bar against the far wall. True to its name, Beer Kado is primarily a beer pub, but a selection of cocktails and wines are also available.

This hole-in-the-wall place is hidden behind a commonplace, nondescript door, which few but regulars know about. The décor is masculine, with dark tones, armchairs and a bar. They have different kinds of Japanese beers on tap, as well as a few international brews.

A classy Italian-styled bar that specializes in wine, Bar Wisteria has a wide range of wines on the menu. The wines are imported from all over the world, with a focus on Italian and French labels. This local favourite is located between the Osakajo-kitasume and Kyobashi JR Stations, making it readily accessible whether you are visiting it on a bar-hop, or planning to spend an evening here.

Manzokuya (満ぞく屋)

This budget-priced izakaya offers sake, beer, and snacks like tempura, in a classic Japanese setting. Their seafood, whether served as raw sashimi or deep-fried tempura, is tangibly fresh.
