Top Reasons To Spend A Sunny Day Out In Park Ra'anana
On a sunny afternoon, in search of some greenery, only a short 15-minute drive away from the hustle and bustle of Tel Aviv is the beautiful Park Ra’anana. As the ‘pearl’ of the Sharon region, the residential city Ra’anana prides itself on having one of the most breathtaking parks in Israel. After an enchanting afternoon, you, too, will agree with the locals.
Plentiful Greenery
What is it about luscious grass that makes feet tingle? At Park Ra’anana, it’s likely you wouldn’t have seen this amount of plentiful goodness in a long time. Of course, you expect grass in a park, but in Israel, this is not the case. Israelis do not take this grass for granted by any means. This is the perfect sort of grass for a picnic, not too short and not too long, just right. Bring a big blanket, your favorite sandwich, and your (very excited) dog, and you are all set for an incredible time.
There’s a Lake in the Middle of it All
Here is where the romance comes in, Ra’anana must have spared no expense in building this park since it appears they decided to go all out. This lake, called ‘Swan Lake’, actually has swans swimming in it. You can even witness them bathing in the fountain. Ra’anana takes it one level up. As you walk across the bridge of Swan Lake, you can actually listen to Tchaikovsky’s ballet, Swan Lake, by pressing a button and letting the beautiful sounds surround you. The lake experience is complete with a café next to it, plus there are boat rides available.
Art on Every Corner
The most exciting part of adventuring about this very large park is stumbling upon art pieces all along the two-kilometer bike and walking path. This particular installation features pieces that are paired with drum pallets. The idea is that each visitor can create music with these art pieces. Discover how each of the art pieces creates different sounds and how they blend gracefully with the sounds of the birds and trees whistling in the wind.
The Zoo
The Ra’anana zoo boasts a stunning 100 different animals that are located within the park. Most of the animals have been rescued and are recovering from certain injuries. The animals stay at the zoo for their recovery and enjoy their time meeting other furry friends. This is a great experience if you have small children, as they do not get a chance to interact with these species otherwise.
Child-Friendly
If you know of any children that are glued to the TV and you are looking for a way to get them out of the house, this is your ticket. Park Ra’anana is packed with attractions left and right, ensuring to engage children of all ages. There is a larger wooden playground, a ‘sporteque’ area with basketball, soccer, and hockey courts, as well as an area for younger children, complete with a shaded playset.
The Famous Amphitheatre
The Ra’anana ‘Ampi’ has had some amazing headliners over the years, and it is an incredibly action-packed venue for any concert you find yourself attending. Holding around 6,000 audience members, it is a much more intimate concert-going experience than Tel Aviv’s Park Ha Yarkon. Some Israelis were lucky enough to see the Backstreet Boys last summer, which was an unforgettable and exhilarating experience. You can check out the upcoming shows online.
