The Heart's Pub Crawl: Experience Tel Aviv Night Life As A Local

Serena Carsley-Mann

Every Thursday and Saturday night Eviatar, the man, the legend, the Mr. Pub Crawl, hosts what he calls, a ‘crazy night.’ He aims to show visitors what it is like to experience Tel Aviv night life as a local.

Pub Crawl

Half-American, and half-Israeli,Eviatar has an insider understanding of both Israeli and international culture. He was a bartender for seven years, so he definitely knows how to drink, and to encourage others to do so as well. On top of that, he is a licensed travel agent, and therefore is all about showing tourists around. Eviatar himself embodies the pub crawl, with his fun, energetic, and youthful personality, as well as his genuine desire to offer participants an unforgettable experience. Or perhaps forgotten…
The night begins at Little Tel Aviv Hostel, where participants are given a bracelet for 80 NIS (70 NIS presale), and receive a beer and chaser to begin with. The price also includes a chaser at each of the five happening, hipster bars, as well as free entrance to all of them.
As the pre-drink begins, Eviatar debriefs for the rest of the evening, and warns participants to, ‘get ready to party all night.’ He also tries to convert strangers into friends. The Pub Crawl seems to attract a unique array of participants: people from all around the world, staying both at the hostel and throughout Tel Aviv, with different stories and experiences to share. However, they all easily connect on being eager to explore the city, make new connections and have a great time.
The first bar on the Crawl is Hostel 51, a mystical beer garden on an outdoor patio, with a large dance floor inside, hidden behind Little Tel Aviv Hostel. Hostel 51 begins the evening as a restaurant with a diverse and delicious menu, and progressively turns into a bar. This place really has a ‘good vibes only’ feel, and welcomes you to stay all night long. However, on the Pub Crawl, you do not simply stay at one bar.

Let the Pub Crawl begin!

Buxa, the next bar on the crawl, is the essence of the Tel Aviv hipster scene. This underground bar always has a line out the door; however, when coming in with Eviatar, waiting in line is a foreign concept. The décor will have you Instagramming all night, especially with their colorful and eclectic walls, that will make you feel like you’re drinking in a museum. The music, the vibes, and the overall scene could not be more relaxed.
The third bar is Radio EPGB, an underground bar as well, and a few minutes walk away from Buxa. This bar as well is always jam packed, with people willing to wait as long as it takes to get in. But once again, our man Eviatar has got everyone covered. Radio is the place to be for singles, artists, designers, hipsters, Tel Avivians, and, of course, tourists wanting to delve into the scene. Its popularity can be explained by the the music, as well as the fact that the crowd and vibes are constantly changing. The music ranges from electro, new age, funk, punk, and underground styles. Also, depending on the mood of the night, it can be a bar, or more similar to a rave.

Pub Crawl

The fourth bar, Pasáž, is located in a passageway, which explains its distinctive name. Similar to the other bars on the crawl, it is a laid-back, no frills, hipster bar, and one of Tel Aviv’s trendiest places to be. It is really a magical experience, between the hidden location, vintage décor, and dim lighting.
The evening ends at Lima Lima, also within walking distance. This bar has an incredible line up of DJs, with a different one every night of the week – mostly playing hip hop, reggae and electro beats. It also has two different sections – half of the bar has outdoor garden-like seating, for drinking and hanging out. And the other half inside is a large dance floor, with low couches surrounding it.
The wild partiers begin the evening at 9:30 P.M., and manage to experience five bars, staying out until 3 A.M., leaving with new connections, and a true Tel Aviv night life experience.
The Hearts Pub Crawl switches up its route sometimes, with visits to other bars, such as Alphabet, Kuli Alma, Penguin and the Breakfast Club. All are in the area as well, and are as hipster and Tel Avivian as can be.
