Tel Aviv is not lacking in charming cafes, or freelancers, for that matter. If you’re looking for a spot to drink great coffee and eat tasty food, all while getting things done on your laptop in a work-friendly atmosphere, this guide should prove highly useful!

Casbah

Cafe, Restaurant, Israeli

Describing the vibe of this neighbourhood favourite as “chill” would be somewhat of an understatement. Casbah is a quintessentially Florentin establishment where you’ll be surrounded by hipsters, dogs and weed (much like Tel Aviv in general). Its homey set up, super relaxed vibe, delicious food and great coffee make this an ideal place to sit down in for a few hours and get work done.

Java

Cafe, Bar, Coffee Shop, Israeli, Healthy

Located on a street corner, just five minutes from Hilton Beach, Java is a well-established cafe with great food and coffee and a relaxed atmosphere. Its pleasant outdoor seating area near the beach and popularity among freelancers makes this an ideal spot for studying or working in. Just avoid it during peak hours on the weekend, as it will be heaving with people.

The Little Prince

Cafe, Pastries, Israeli

This charming spot on King George Street, near Carmel Market, doubles as a bookshop and a cafe. It has an eclectic collection of books in numerous languages, from English and French to Russian and Spanish. Its outdoor garden is particularly dreamy and makes for a great place to get comfortable in with an afuch (Israeli cappuccino) as you work away on your laptop.

Bookworm

Cafe, Coffee Shop, Pastries, Israeli

Another bookshop cafe, Bookworm is less rustic and homey than The Little Prince but it’s nevertheless a very pleasant and quiet spot for reading or working in. Located next to Rabin Square in central Tel Aviv, they offer a wide selection of books (mostly in Hebrew, although there is a decent English collection) in addition to good coffee, breakfast dishes and pastries. They have another branch on Mazeh Street, towards the south of Tel Aviv.

Nehama Vahetzi

Cafe, Israeli

Located around the corner from Habima Square and Rothschild Boulevard, this cafe is very popular among locals for its charming balcony, cozy indoor seating area, great coffee and tasty food. You will be in the company of many other freelancers typing away at their laptops, making this one of the best work-friendly spots in Tel Aviv.

Bucke

Cafe, Israeli, Vegetarian

This neighbourhood favourite is used by many as a workspace due to its charming setup, relaxed atmosphere, and top-notch food and coffee. Located on the corner of Hashmonaim and Ahad Ha’am, just off of Rothschild Boulevard, Bucke’s quirky menu includes Israeli classics, such as shakshuka and sabich as well as pasta and interesting salads. In addition to being an excellent workspace, its seating area overlooking the street makes for a great people-watching spot. They also have a branch on Yehuda HaMaccabi Street in northern Tel Aviv.
