The Israeli Ballet gracefully pirouettes alongside Batsheva Dance Company’s thrilling contemporary explorations. The Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company enlivens the Northern Galilee, while Kamea Dance Company dwells in the Negev. In addition to full-time dance companies, Israel supports dozens of independent choreographers, including recent TEDx speaker Renana Raz and rising star Sharon Eyal. Choreographers are constantly whipping up innovative works here in Tel Aviv, and international dance companies also frequent the city —The Israeli Opera House will host L.A. based Lula Washington Dance Theater this Spring.

Studio Naim

Studio Naim in Florentin offers dozens of dance and fitness classes at their Salame location alongside yoga, Pilates and TRX classes at their additional three locations. Dance class styles include contemporary, Jazz, belly dancing, lyrical, hip-hop, cabaret, ballet, and more. Classes are also held on Saturdays.

Centrally located on Ibn Gvirol St, Studio B hosts a wide range of daily dance and fitness classes. Try Intro to Jazz on Sunday and kickboxing on Wednesday. Also, be on the lookout for specialty workshops such as Femme Funk.

Bikurei Haitim Dance Center in central Tel Aviv offers daily ballet and yoga classes. Peek around the center after class — you may see up & coming choreographers rehearsing alongside impressive dance students of the Maslool Professional Dance Program.

Gaga

Theater

Ohad Naharin, the Artistic Director of Batsheva Dance Company, created Gaga, an unusual and now internationally recognized dance language. Teachers guide movers through specific improvisational tasks, encouraging spontaneity and freedom. Classes are held daily at Suzanne Delal and other studios across the country. No prior experience is necessary.

HaKvutza

School

HaKvutza School of Contemporary Dance in Yafo is especially well known for their contact improvisation jams. These post-modern sessions are dedicated to creating an open environment for movers to explore and connect with each other through physical contact. Contemporary dance classes and yoga are also popular here.

Hasadna

Theater

Hasadna Dance Workshop introduces dancers to a different Israeli choreographer every week for an ongoing workshop. Past guests include Sharon Eyal, Inbal Pinto & Avshalom Pollak, Luc Jacobs, Noa Zuk, and the Maria Kong company dancers. Hasadna sessions begin with a Gaga class and are followed by repertoire. Pre-registration is required.

Bascula

TheBascula, in addition to being the hottest new music venue in Tel Aviv, offers circus and acro-balance workshops alongside classes like Contemporary African dance.

Yasmeen Godder
Yasmeen Godder is one of the boldest choreographers in Tel Aviv. On Tuesdays from 9:00-10:45AM she (or one of her dancers) gives a contemporary class. Check the website for updated scheduling.

Kelim

Kelim
Kelim Choreography Center, aside from hosting unique and experimental performances in Bat Yam, also provides the community with impressive theoretical and physical workshops. Past series have included Daniel Landau’s ‘The Body and its Digital State’ and Michal Oppenheim’s ‘Spacial Voice.’
