Summer in Tel Aviv is the perfect time to enjoy all the fun outdoor activities the beautiful, multicultural city has to offer. Culture Trip has put together a list of some of the most exciting outdoor activities, ranging from yoga to matkot. What are you waiting for?

Frisbee

Frisbee

Tel Aviv has a very active frisbee community. Its members are involved in freestyle frisbee competitions, with their artistic dance moves, and Ultimate Frisbee, whose players meet once a month at the Sportek Park to compete against each other. The different teams vary in strength and levels, so that everyone who is interested, from beginners to experts, can join by contacting the team leader.

Yoga

If you are looking for an energy boost, a fun workout or a way to relieve stress and find your inner self, yoga is the right answer. EllaYoga, located at the port of Tel Aviv, offers different outdoor yoga classes seven days a week, starting early in the morning and ending late at night. The classes are taught by different teachers and vary in style and difficulty levels. With a view over the sea, tourists have the possibility to get a special deal of three classes for 225 shekels. For more information have a look at the event schedule on the website.

Tel-O-Fun Bikes

Biking

With bike trails all around, Tel Aviv is a very biking-friendly city. Biking is not only the perfect way to get through Tel Aviv because you won’t have to look for parking, it is also the most environmentally friendly way to get around and it gives people the opportunity to get to know the city from a different perspective. Have fun riding along the sea side, take a coffee break at the port and enjoy the beautiful nature of the Yarkon Park. With the help of Tel-O-Fun, people don’t even have to own a bike in order to be able to get active. Just punch in your information and get on your bike!

Matkot

Matkot

Have you been to the beach in Tel Aviv, and heard a constant popping noise? This is matkot. Matkot is an Israeli racquetball game that is typically played parallel to the water at the beaches of Tel Aviv. All you need are two matkot racquets, a little black rubber ball and a partner. You can find the equipment in every tourist shop on the beach, in sport shops, or online.

Surfing

Surfing

Tel Aviv offers surf enthusiasts several beaches along its coastlines. People who don’t know how to surf and have no equipment can rent whatever they need for a fun day and take lessons. Try Israel’s Surf Club. Located at the Dolphinarium Beach, people can take private and group lessons and rent surfboards, as well as stand-up paddleboards. After a long day in the water, surfers can even enjoy a good meal at the beach restaurant. For more information or to arrange surfing lessons contact Israel’s Surf Club.

Beach Volleyball

Volleyball

Tel Aviv’s beaches are the perfect place to relax on the weekend, to sunbathe and to meet up with friends. However, they also offer some fun for the more active kind: every Saturday people meet up at Bugrashov beach for beach volleyball matches, free of charge. You can also find volleyball fields at Gordon and Frishman Beach. Here the tournaments are less organized, which doesn’t mean that they are less enjoyable. Get together with friends and go ahead. It won’t take much time until more people will join your game.

Boat on Yarkon River

Floating on the Yarkon River

There are lots of activities the Hayarkon Park has to offer. People can have barbecues, picnics, bike tours, walks, and so on. However, it is also fun to leave solid ground and have an adventure on the river itself. With a variety of different boats, including motorboats, paddleboats and kayaks, people can enjoy themselves floating away on the Yarkon River. You can find the Yarkon River boathouse near the Ibn Gabirol Bridge.
