Revamping Jerusalem’s Landscape: The New Pyramid Landmark

Jerusalem may be a classic destination for visiting holy sites, but soon it will host an architectural gem. Jerusalem will welcome a new pyramid high-rise to its urbanscape, a commercial project designed by Daniel Libeskind and Yigal Levi. Libeskind is a well-known architect whose masterpieces include Berlin’s Jewish Museum and New York City’s World Trade Center 9/11 Memorial.

‘The Pyramid Project will bring a revolution to the city center that Mamilla spurred in its area,’ explains Yigal Levi, the Israeli architect co-championing the project. ‘There are massive, upcoming projects in Jerusalem, Israel, [but] they lack a place where individuals meet and hang out. The brand new “Freedom Pyramid” is only a one-minute walk from the King George Street-Jaffa Road crossroad, close to the Mahane Yehuda market and Nachlaot.’

‘I will open up the project in all directions and create a new network of links to the nearby streets. This unique design will uncover a spring of Jerusalem downtown,’ Daniel Libeskind told Levi.

The 105-meter, 26-story Pyramid will spread across 35,000 square meters (376,735 square feet) and will feature 180-200 luxury apartments, a boutique hotel, and an outdoor plaza, along with stores, a restaurant, and a rooftop observatory that will offer sweeping views of the ancient city of Jerusalem.
