If running along Tel Aviv’s beach is not enough, the White City is home to a wide variety of gyms and fitness studios. No matter if it’s pilates or MMA you’re after, chill yoga or extreme TRX, zumba or belly dancing, the city has whatever your workout needs.

1. Studio Naim

Yoga Studio, Fitness Studio, Gym

Once reserved for the young and value-minded urbanite, Studio Naim has become Tel Aviv’s hottest fitness studio. Branching out from a modest beginning in southern Tel Aviv, this laidback studio now has five locations across the center’s southern half, with the newest on Rothschild Boulevard. While most fitness studios in Tel Aviv offer a classic gym experience, Naim (“pleasant” in Hebrew) is just like its name: chill in atmosphere and geared more towards yoga, pilates, and aerobic dance. It offers monthly subscriptions and deals for tourists, so with the occasional cat napping on a yoga mat, Studio Naim is quintessentially Tel Avivian.

2. Gymi

Gym, Swimming Pool

One of the more popular gyms in Tel Aviv, Gymi sits on the roof Tel Aviv’s central mall, Dizengoff Center, and offers a sunbathed workout or swim. With one of best rooftop pools in the city and a giant, 400-ft gym (37.2-m²), Gymi offers classes in classics like CrossFit and TRX as well as more exotic workouts like pole-dancing. There are also great zumba classes and three different types of yoga alongside courses on nutrition and health.

3. Great Shape

Gym

Offering great gym facilities, Great Shape also has a great health bar to juice up in between workouts. In addition to the gym and studio classes like zumba, pilates, yoga, and even kickboxing, Great Shape specializes in TRX workouts, which can be taken in group or personal sessions.

4. Space

Gym

Space on the hip Shenkin Street is a classic urban fitness center, offering a wide variety of classes and access to a fully equipped gym for a monthly or annual subscriptions. Rife with buff guys and fit women in super sporty attire, Space is the place to get toned and strut your stuff in a clean and stylish gym. Although it does not have a pool, it offers almost everything else, from spinning to CrossFit.

5. Holmes Place

Fitness Studio, Gym, Spa

Part gym, part fitness studio, and part spa, this urban country club offers fine facilities for those looking for a more pampered workout setting. With franchises around the world and across Israel, Holmes Place offers a holistic experience with everything from health classes, to personal trainers, and even belly dancing courses. For those looking to give meaning to the “no pain, no gain” truism, there are also kickboxing classes alongside classics like yoga and modern workouts like Nia.

6. Team Bert MMA

Sports Center

This MMA center is leading Tel Aviv into the mixed-martial arts fray, with an atmosphere sure to get even Rocky pumped. Set up by Eran Bert, Team Bert offers both MMA and Brazilian Jiujitsu training for beginners as well as for hardened pros, focusing not just on technique but also on the mental discipline needed for martial arts.

The city is your studio

The best fitness studio in the city is, of course, Tel Aviv itself, and many locals use its amazing beaches or public parks to stay fit. In the past few years, public gyms have been set up around the city and in public parks, allowing Tel Avivians to work out without paying an arm and a leg, and these open gyms are a great place to meet like-minded people and even find a small group to join. So put on your shorts, see the city, meet its natives, and work out with an almost-private trainer.
