Casa Luna is a hospitality and culinary establishment that includes guesthouses, restaurants and a cooking school. It is the brainchild of Janet de Neefe, who has been living in Bali for decades and initiated the Ubud Food Festival – as well as the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival. Cooking classes at Lobong Culinary Experience take place in a host family’s compound – where you get acquainted with a local Balinese family and learn their traditional ways. The class is led by a professional chef, and the process starts from picking fresh produce from local markets. In addition to learning how to cook delicious Balinese dishes, you’ll also have the opportunity to make new local friends and immerse yourself in authentic Balinese culture.

4. Bumbu Bali Cooking Class

This cooking school is one of the most sought-after workshops in the Tanjung Benoa area – a neighbourhood best known for lavish resorts and fun water sports. Chef Heinz von Holzen – who spent decades working as an Executive Chef at five-star resorts and has published numerous books on Balinese and Indonesian cuisine – is in charge, making sure every one of his students learns meaningful skills during the class. You’ll cook lunch with elaborate recipes and guidance from the chef and eat together while discussing more insights and reviews from the chef and other participants.

5. Anika Cooking Class Bali

In this cooking class, traditional recipes and techniques meet modern settings in an intimate, authentic Balinese-style kitchen. You’ll be introduced to traditional herbs, spices – even utensils – in order to learn how to apply traditional cooking techniques to create authentic meals and desserts. You can choose between a morning class that starts with a market tour and concludes with their cooked lunch – or an evening class that starts after lunch and concludes with dinner.

If you are committed to raw, healthy food, this cooking class is an excellent opportunity to learn how to make your own delicious meals. Even though the culinary class includes minimal processing, the skills that you’ll learn during the class are not remotely trivial as you’ll learn how to make raw food enticing and great tasting.
