Founded in 1936 and run by worker co-operative societies, Indian Coffee House has almost 400 locations in cities across the country. The chain has several in Kolkata, with the one on College Street being the most popular and historic. It has even served as the meeting place of intellectuals and artists, including the likes of Satyajit Ray, Amartya Sen, Mrinal Sen and Aparna Sen.
