Tianjin is one of the oldest Western-influenced cities in China. Less than a century ago, eight western nations each occupied a portion of the town. Today, westernization positively pervades in new ways, one particular form is food. If you need a break for the usual morning jianbing pancakes or baozi buns for lunch, Tianjin offers plenty of international restaurants to savor the food you’re missing from home. Here is our guide of where to go for the best western dining in Tianjin.

1. Burgers

Craft Ale Bar, Pub, American

Believe it or not, Tianjin’s burger scene is a bit competitive. Five restaurants top our list for best burger and each with their own distinction. First, the number one spot for expats is WE Brewery. This microbrewery has been an explosive hit for evening beers and burgers. Next is the Chinese franchise for burgers, Blue Frog, with two locations. Our third is TJ Tex-Mex; its Buffalo Chicken Burger is the standout dish of the joint. And the fourth pick is the burgers from the orange bricked Bon Burger Cafe. Lastly, The Local Burger Restaurant lives up to its name: a homely shindig where you can dine with the warmly accommodating owner.

2. Pizza

Pizzeria, Italian

Apart from a few Italian-owned restaurants in Italian Style Town, Tianjin has two establishments that expats recommend for the best pizza in town. Pizza Modica is one of the few authentic Scillian restaurants in Tianjin and tucked away in the high rise of Galaxy Mall is Pizza Bianca. Rated one of the top restaurants in Tianjin, expect a long wait, but delicious pizza.

3. Pasta

Restaurant, Italian

Stepping up dining classiness are the four restaurants that lead Tianjin’s pasta scene. Idea Café is deemed one of the best-kept secrets of Tianjin. its chef/owner spent over a decade in Italy perfecting the art of Italian food. Kitchen Igosso, though small, is regarded as one of the best restaurants in Tianjin and has a modern, hip feel to it. In the Italian Style Street is the Italian-owned Venezia Club; its ingredients are actually imported from Italy. Lastly, Maxim’s of Paris, a one of a kind French fine dining experience in Tianjin, is a small chain that comes from Paris.

4. Steak

Restaurant, Fusion

Smoki & Co is the place to go for meat. Their succulent steaks are the restaurant’s headliner, and many repeat patrons come here with one intention. Tianjin’s best steakhouse is not only the greatest in Tianjin but could be one of the best steaks you’ll ever have. Pizza Bianca and the Fire House Restaurant at the Marriott of Tianjin are also said to serve tasty steaks too.

5. Fish and chips

Restaurant, Bar, Fish and Chip Shop, British, Seafood

Brown’s Bar and Restaurant is known for its British porcelain tea sets and its authentic decor that brings the UK to Tianjin. An open atmosphere that suits English tastes, Brown’s is best for British foods. But for a louder, less formal meal, WE Brewery is also a provider of fantastic fish and chips in Tianjin.
