Every year, TripAdvisor releases their list of best hotels and 2018 sees a most welcome number-one that boasts a price we can actually afford!

Viroth’s Hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia, has just been voted the best hotel in the world at TripAdvisor’s prestigious 2018 Travellers’ Choice Awards. Described on the site as a ‘Chic, tranquil, green and luxurious oasis’, with ‘friendly, helpful and yet unobtrusive service’, TripAdvisor gushes that ‘Viroth’s is not just a great place to see the stunning temples, but a destination in its own right.’

This does not surprise us considering the sleek elegance of the property’s nature-inspired design, the amazing spa (open till 10pm!) and the stunning pool that tempts someone looking at a pic to literally jump into their screen. The hotel also boasts both an indoor and an outdoor restaurant serving continental favourites and delicious local delicacies. The gym overlooks the hotel’s vertical garden, so you’ll sweating while staring at an oasis. It gets better and better.

But the best thing about this property, except for maybe the incredible fully kitted-out spa, is that a stay here starts at $95 (£67) per night. That’s less than $100 for true luxury in one of the most bucket-list countries in the world.

If you have a bit more money to spend, the hotel offers a range of fantastic packages that are also very affordable. For example, for $295 (£209) per night, you and a guest can enjoy the ‘Lifestyle Package’, which includes accommodation, airport transfers in the hotel’s vintage limo, daily breakfast, one cocktail per person, one 60-minute oil massage per person, a dinner at the hotel restaurant, 15% off treatments at the hotel spa, a half-day shopping tour of Siem Reap and much, much more. That’s certainly a lot of bang for your buck!

Viroth’s is definitely a haven and the perfect base from which to explore all of Cambodia’s magic.
