Only a few years ago, Otres was little more than a dirt track that skirted a beach dotted with a few shacks and wooden bungalows. Fast-forward just a few years and today, the stretch of sand is packed with guesthouses, diners and bars to cater to the swelling crowds. Here are 10 of the best restaurants in Otres.

The stylish spot also has a swimming pool for those wanting to avoid the creatures of the sea. Sitting at the far end of Otres beach, Pappa Pippo doubles as a guesthouse and restaurant/bar. As a stalwart on the Otres strip, it gets busy in the evenings, having built up a reputation as the top pizza spot and serving pizza until 2.30am. Whether it’s day or night, this place offers a chill atmosphere right on the beach and is great for sunset cocktails.

As a relatively recent addition to Otres, Greenhouse Effect represents the new wave of additions to the beach. More flashpacker than backpacker, this beach-side venture has a hip vibe, with chic loungers dotting the private section of beach, gentle house music dancing through the air and a menu of food and drinks served throughout the day and night. This is a hangout for the cook crew.

Set right on the beachfront at the start of Otres Beach, if you’re coming from Sihanoukville, Chez Paou is probably one of the largest shacks on the beach. The spot also offers basic accommodation, as well as food and drinks that are served throughout the day and night. There is a pool table, friendly dogs and sun loungers on the beach for guests.

Another Otres stalwart, Mushroom Point embodies the personality of Otres back in the day. Named after the mushroom-shaped huts that make up its accommodation, this beach-side haunt is also home to a bar that serves food and drinks overlooking the sea. Loungers and chairs are available, while egg seats swing gently from the branches of trees that dot the stretch of sand.
