A babymoon is essentially a relaxed getaway for expectant mothers and their partners before their new arrival moves in! It has become an increasingly growing trend for mums-to be to head off on holiday with either their partner, friend or a loved one before the imminent happiness of the new arrival. Some couples choose to go on a babymoon as their ‘final’ holiday as just a couple before they transition into having a family.

Schwanger in der Therme

It is important to note that babymoons are often taken in the second trimester of pregnancy after the 12 week scan when it is much safer if you want to fly out to a destination. If you want to go abroad for your babymoon or are considering a long haul flight it is always advisable to speak to your medical practitioner.

Flying out before the 12 weeks of pregnancy is not advisable; however, if you really want to go on a babymoon before 12 weeks you could consider a local spa vacation or relaxed hotel stay. All vacation plans should be considered in line with your individual health and requirements as its important to stay fit and healthy whilst being pregnant. You may wish to consider what type of insurance you wish to take and may want to discuss your plans with your midwife.

Babymoon

If you are considering where to go for your babymoon there are a range of destinations to choose from. Most couples want to spend some relaxing time off in chilled out surroundings before the sleepless nights begin. From breathtaking beaches to relaxed spa weekends or a luxury hotel stay, there are many different places that you could choose to enjoy your babymoon.

If you are anxious or worried about going anywhere abroad you may want to try options such as having a prenatal massage, going to the theatre, enjoying some fine dining or have a luxury hotel weekend stay.

Venice

If you like nature and enjoy admiring the greenery why not book into a countryside resort or soak up some sunshine at the beach. There are many destinations that have seaside hotels that you can enjoy and if you are feeling peckish you could make use of the seafood.

Another option for those who prefer to go on a short haul flight is to opt for a city break. You can admire the culture and history of some of the most vibrant cities in Europe and some travel operators allow you to visit two cities whilst booking to go to one.

If you are really adventurous and have the all-clear from your midwife to fly out long haul you may want to consider an exotic beach location, a sunshine resort or heading off to the Asian continent with its stunning scenery, warm weather and delicious food. Some countries you could consider are Sri Lanka, Maldives, Malaysia or even Bali.

Mirissa Beach

If you really want to celebrate before the arrival of your baby there is no better way to do it than by going on a babymoon!
