The Best Places to Travel in November 2024
Whether you need to get away from the ever-closer bite of winter, or the chaotic anxiety of planning ahead for Christmas, November is an underrated time of year to travel. Discover the joys of shoulder season holidays with this selection of Culture Trips running in November.
Soulful South Korea
The shoulder seasons are generally considered to be the best time to visit South Korea. While the cherry blossom of springtime does tend to steal the headlines, don’t discount the beauty of fall foliage across this beautiful East Asian nation. There’ll be plenty of easiness on the eye throughout our 10-day itinerary, which starts in the neon-lit capital of Seoul. You’ll explore the old and the new here before heading out into the countryside to explore the DMZ – AKA the border with mysterious neighbours North Korea – and Seoraksan National Park, a luscious mountainous expanse that looks utterly gorgeous at this time of year. You’ll explore ancient Korea in Gyeongju and during a traditional temple stay experience in Golgulsa, while things get foodie in coastal Busan, where you’ll sip soju and take part in an authentic Korean cooking class. Discover the charm of Jeonju’s traditional Hanok village and gorge on Bibimbap before returning to the capital.
Discover Jordan
The Middle East opens up big time in autumn, when temperatures drop down to a level that allows you to properly explore ancient cities and sprawling deserts. Jordan is probably the most spectacular nation in this entire region, and our eight-day itinerary does no harm to that reputation. Start with street food and wine tasting in vibrant Amman, before travelling back in time with a visit to the ancient city of Petra. You’ll get a guided tour and enter via a backdoor route to this iconic Unesco-listed wonder, while 4x4s will help us bounce across the dunes of Wadi Rum, an epic red-rock desert valley made famous by multiple big Hollywood blockbusters. Having camped under the stars in Wadi Rum, we’ll whisk you over to the city of Aqaba, from where you can snorkel and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Red Sea. En route back to Amman we’ll stop off in Mujib, the world’s lowest nature reserve, where you can float in the freaky waters of the Dead Sea.
