You came up with a great idea for a start up. You raised a few tens of thousands from angels. Now you are ready to start fundraising with the big leagues. Find out which cafes venture capitalists hang out at in Silicon Valley here.

Coupa Café

This Venezulan cafe is one of the favorite hang out places for VCs. Their arepas, empanadas and chocolat drinks are excellent. But their coffee is one of the best in Palo Alto. If you are adventurous, try something exotic sound like Elephant White Chai Latte. You will be pleasantly surprised by its milky sweetness. Coupa Café is also a great little spot for brunch. The tables and chairs are so close that you probably will hear more than you like from the ones next to you.

Starbucks

This Starbucks off Sand Hill Road is an official “hang out” for VCs. It is also one of the rare Starbucks locations that are nice and spacious. It has tons of outside and inside space making it a great place for VCs on Sand Hill to work and meet founders who want to pitch their ideas over coffee.

Red Rock Coffee

You will never miss out on conversations in this funky little coffee shop. Red Rock Coffee is always crowded with entrepreneurs, VCs, and startup employees. Surprisingly, this is the only decent coffee shop on Castro Street although the area has plenty of food options. They have a large coffee and tea menu but limited options for food and snacks. They also have free wi-fi and plenty of places to sit with a second floor seating area.

Joanie’s Café

Joanie’s is a cozy cafe on California Avenue near Stanford. They offer a delicious breakfast/brunch menu with a French twist. Tables get filled pretty quickly, but you can always sit at the bar. VC partners frequently have breakfast meetings here with startup founders in the area. Bring a big appetite because portions are huge.

Woodside Bakery

Woodside Bakery may not be as hyped up as its next door neighbor, Buck’s, but you will still be surrounded with people talking about angel funding and venture capital. Some say the food is even better than Buck’s. The pastries and coffees are great, but the sit-down dining is even better, though it can get pricey.
