Buenos Aires is known for its rich cultural life. Art is everywhere, and galleries have flooded many parts of the city — here are six you won’t want to miss.

1. Hollywood in Cambodia

Hollywood in Cambodia represents many artists who continue to make Buenos Aires world-renowned for its street art. Located in the trendy neighborhood of Palermo, this gallery’s walls are covered in colorful artwork – and it’s very cool. In fact it’s so cool, you might feel slightly overwhelmed and need to head downstairs for a drink in the gallery’s Post Street Bar. Check out their website for details on the current exhibition, as these change monthly. Founded in 2006, Hollywood in Cambodia is a joint project run by several art collectives and founding artists: Stencil Land, Malatesta, GG & NN from bs.as.stncl, Fede Minuchin and Tester Mariano of Run Don’t Walk (RDW).

Hollywood in Cambodia, Thames 1885, First Floor, Buenos Aires.

Hours: Thursday-Sunday, 5PM-9PM.

Galería Mar Dulce also features only Argentine artists, and artists working in Argentina in various mediums. The seven-year-old gallery is curated by Linda Neilson, an emigré from Scotland, and artist Raúl Veroni. Neilson described this gallery as “cozy” — full of comfy chairs, fresh flowers and books, which visitors can sit and leaf through. There are some permanent pieces on display, as well as contemporary works available to purchase. The gallery maintains two ongoing exhibitions: one individual and one collective, and often showcases the work of special guest artists. Galería Mar Dulce is located in an area of Buenos Aires that’s rife with galleries, between the neighborhoods of Palermo and Villa Crespo.

4. Mite

Art Gallery

Mite is a small contemporary art gallery housed in Galería Patio del Liceo; an artistic venue which offers everything from art to vintage clothing and fancy coffee. Everything at Galería Patio del Liceo is insanely hipster, but Mite has a savvy eye for talent-spotting, so it’s always worth a visit. Galería Patio del Liceo can be found inside a late 19th century building that’s eye-catching enough in itself. The historic building was once the first girl’s school in the region, until its recent metamorphosis in homage to all things art. Several other galleries have also made a home in Galería Patio del Liceo, so it certainly makes for a nice little cultural outing.
Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 2PM-8PM.

Galería Ruby

This art gallery began virtually as an online art magazine entitled Ruby, before transforming into a brick-and-mortar space in the chic neighborhood of Chacarita. The gallery focuses on contemporary art and presents several exhibitions each year. Galería Ruby also serves as a workspace for artists.

Galería Ruby, Av. Forest 379, Buenos Aires.

Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 3:30PM-7:30PM.

MAMAN Fine Art Gallery

MAMAN Fine Art Gallery is the brainchild of Daniel Maman, a prominent Argentine cultural figure and art collector. This prestigious Buenos Aires gallery, which is one of three MAMAN galleries, organizes over 50 exhibitions every year and puts on a variety of cultural programs.

MAMAN Fine Art Gallery, Av. del Libertador 2475, Buenos Aires, +54 11 4804 3700.

Hours: Monday-Friday. 11AM-8PM, Saturdays 11AM-3PM.
