1. El Boliche de Alberto

El Boliche de Alberto is probably most famous for the size of the steaks it serves. Visitors looking for a taste of classic Argentinian cuisine will certainly get what they’re looking for here – not only are the steaks enormous but they are also great in quality as well as price. There are always queues outside the door before the restaurant opens at 8pm, and soon after opening the place is full. El Boliche de Alberto has a good wine selection, with the design of the restaurant styled like a wine-cellar, providing a cozy and intimate ambiance.

2. Alto el Fuego

Alto el Fuego is a cozy and quaint family restaurant serving Argentinian parrilla (barbecue). The decor and furniture is cream and mint green, with delicate wooden tables to match the chalet-style house in which the restaurant is situated. A highlight is the six course tasting menu, with each guest receiving a slightly different mix of dishes- meaning that across the whole table, everyone can get a taste of all the dishes on offer. Perfect for a sophisticated meal but without ‘sophisticated’ prices.

4. Punto Panorámico

Panorámico, as the name might suggest, is a restaurant surrounded by stunning panoramic views. It is found on the Circuito Chico, a route which goes right through Nahuel Huapi National Park, so is a great spot to stop for lunch during a day of exploring. The restaurant is family run, with a menu of hearty home-cooked food to match. The real highlights are, of course, the views – the restaurant does have indoor seating but the best tables are on the outdoor deck, which looks over the lake with an impressive mountain backdrop.

5. La Trattoria della Famiglia Bianchi

Found on the lakeside in the Centro Cívico area of Bariloche is La Trattoria della Famiglia Bianchi, an authentic Italian restaurant. The menu is short which means that the chef can prepare each dish perfectly. The menu includes Argentinian favourites such as steak, empanadas and a great wine list. Holly Restobar

Holly Restobar is a popular spot for young backpackers, thanks to its great prices and outstanding lake views. Open for any meal of the day, the menu offers classic Argentinian fare such as empanadas, pizzas and seafood. The main selling point of the restaurant is its location, perched right on in the edge of the lake and in a peaceful spot just a short walk from the center of Bariloche. While the outdoor seating offers the best views, Holly Restobar has floor to ceiling windows, so the indoor tables also provide a great spot to look out over the lake.

7. Familia Weiss
