Somodó

Chef Ochi has blended Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine for Somodó’s menu, and the result is something that visitors will not easily forget. Instead of preparing a tapas menu, something that has become very popular during the past few years, Ochi has gone for a fuller, more formal approach, elaborating a menu composed of elegant recipes made with prime quality ingredients. The restaurant has no à la carte menu, instead offering a carefully crafted set menu which expertly combines flavours and textures for a delicious meal.

Spoonik

The owners, Jon and Jaime, are friendly and create an informal setting by welcoming diners into their home for this culinary show. They interact throughout the experience with the diners to make their night the best it can possibly be, and they succeed – Spoonik is an amazing and unique treat for any foodie.

Con Gracia

Con Gracia is easily one of the best restaurants in Barcelona’s Gràcia area. They have two different menus – an ‘Experience Menu’ which requires visitors to hand themselves over to the chef’s choices and be surprised by each new course, and the ‘Traditional Menu’, made up of a tapas dish, a starter, a fish-based dish, two meat-based dishes, a pre-dessert, a dessert and petit fours. This establishment prides itself on the freshness of the ingredients and the innovative character of the recipes.

Pepa Tomate

This restaurant is named and modelled after Pepa Farré, a Catalan chef who spent a lot of her time cultivating different types of tomatoes. As the name denotes, the restaurant’s specialty is tomatoes, and one of its most famous dishes are delicious green tomatoes fried with cheese. They also serve cocas, a typical Catalan pastry served sweet or savoury, with tomatoes and a variety of different ingredients on top. Pepa Tomate produces its own wine and cava too, which is well worth a try.

Ipar-Txoko

Basque cuisine in Catalonia might seem like an odd choice at first, but this restaurant has come to be known as one of the best in Barcelona’s Gràcia. There is no menu at Ipar-Txoko, instead the owner comes out to tell diners what they are serving each day, as they adapt their dishes to the fresh produce they find. Visitors who are hungry from a long day exploring the city will appreciate the big portions and the excellent wine.

Mi Gracia

An Argentinian restaurant with a sprinkle of Mediterranean influence, Mi Gracia offers a different type of cuisine. They serve typical Argentinian empanadas in a variety of flavours (chicken, cheese and onion, chorizo, asparagus – the list goes on) and of course a selection of famous Argentinian steaks, as well as Mediterranean inspired dishes such as ravioli, couscous or hummus. Mi Gracia also hosts occasional special events, so visitors who are lucky enough to be in town when they take place can take part in a tango night, or celebrate important days like New Year’s Eve or Father’s Day at this unique restaurant.

Roig Robí

Run by chef Mercè Navarro since it opened its doors in 1986, Roig Robí is without a doubt one of the best restaurants in the Gràcia area. The chef’s motto is to cook with ‘love and honesty’ in order to achieve the level of quality and harmony that the restaurant offers today. There are four different menus; a seasonal menu, a set menu consisting of a first course, a second course and a dessert, and two different degustation menus.

Gut

Decorated in white except for the wooden chairs, Gut is a stylish restaurant frequented by locals – an indication of its superb quality. The menu is not extensive but it is certainly excellent (many of their ingredients are organic), and the recipes are a mix of Mediterranean and Asian gastronomy, with dishes such as nori salad with cod and orange, or chicken curry with mango and raita. They serve a lot of gluten-free and vegetarian dishes, making it ideal for visitors with dietary requirements.

Ferrum

Ferrum specialises in ‘raciones’; they serve either half portions or entire portions of most of their dishes, making it easy for visitors to try a variety of the classics they offer and to share different plates. The contemporary decor is fresh and clean-cut, making it perfect for any type of occasion. The service is excellent, since the friendly staff is always attentive, and the pricing is on point, meaning visitors get great value for their money.
