Al Agua Patos

Al agua patos serves a brilliant brunch, making a French toast that is so good it should be famous. If you fancy something a bit lighter, their red fruits granola served with a delicious natural yogurt is recommended. The place is simply but elegantly decorated with wooden furniture and their food is presented beautifully.

You might not think about having a full English breakfast when in Bogotá, but seeing what El Inglés offers you will be tempted. Come to this popular English pub in El chico for a slap-up full English, which even includes baked beans. If a fried breakfast isn’t your thing they also have brilliant pancakes served with fruit, so the place will keep everyone happy.

For all-you-can eat brunch brilliance, head to La Herencia & Entre pues. In this Colombian restaurant you will find a wide range of brunch meals including smoked salmon, bagels, eggs, ham and fine pastries among many other treats. For a brunch with a difference you can also enjoy live jazz while you eat.

If you only have one day to brunch while in Bogota head to Abasto in Usaquén. Their breakfasts are not only delicious but they are also different from any other breakfast in town. The menu is creative, offering a mix of the traditional with the modern. Exciting arepas, a Colombian specialty, and tasty egg dishes can be washed down with their organic coffee, expertly brewed by the lovely staff.

Poached eggs and hollandaise sauce won’t be found here, but at La Puerta Falsa you can experience a typical Colombian breakfast and have some moist tamales and chocolate completo (hot chocolate with cheese, buttered bread and a biscuit). Chocolate and cheese might not tempt you straight away but don’t be discouraged, this is a traditional Colombian combination you should try. Brot cafe, located in the classy Zona Rosa, is a prime and extremely popular brunch spot for well-to-do Bogotanos. A Parisian-style cafe with a twist, at Brot Café you’ll find croissants next to huevos rancheros (a local egg meal), but whatever you order, it will be delicious. Despite its fancy location this café is surprisingly cheap, so order without fear and fill yourself up.

Pan fino

A top local spot, Pan Fino serves coffee to the masses each morning of the week. Their coffee can be accompanied by typical pastries, including the delicious cheese bread called pan de bono. Blend in with the Bogotanos and order your coffee as a tinto (a small cup of sweet black coffee).

Club Colombia’s brunch is very much a big deal, so you will have to pre-book to be guaranteed a table. The restaurant serves typical Colombian food, expect big portions and a lot of meat on your breakfast plate, including sausage, bacon, minced meat and eggs galore too. Needless to say this is the place to come on a hungry day, and you might find the big brunch ends up being your only meal of the day.
