In Bariloche’s Centro Cívico, the city’s main commercial area, is South Bar, a relaxed and laid-back pub. Compared to many of the more lively places found in the town center, South Bar is a relatively quiet spot so it’s perfect for a drink after a tiring day exploring the area. It serves a good range of beers, many with unusual flavors such as raspberry or honey. The bar’s unpretentious and sociable atmosphere makes it a great spot for those who have just arrived in Bariloche after a day of traveling, and are looking to meet the locals or some fellow backpackers.

Antares

Antares is a restaurant and microbrewery with an amazing range of different brews to choose from. Probably the most large-scale microbrewery in Bariloche, it is often the busiest and so has a vibrant and bustling atmosphere, with a high ceilings and warehouse-style interior to match. It has nine standard beers on tap, plus occasional specials to add to the selection. The food and music is pretty good too.

Cervecería Bachmann

Cevecería Bachmann is a traditional German-style brewery pub, in one of Bariloche’s classic Alpine chalet houses. This place is smaller and more intimate than some of the other brewery pubs in Bariloche, with atmospheric low lighting and beer-related paraphernalia for decoration, along with old maps and vintage posters. The decor feels authentically German, with plenty of wood and a couple of old-fashioned brewing vats in the corner. For a taste of Bariloche’s German heritage and some full-bodied beers, Cevecería Bachmann is a superb option.

Roket

The first of Bariloche’s nightclubs on this list, Roket is a large establishment with a 2000 person capacity, five floors, four bars and three dance floors. The unique selling point of Roket is its high-technology laser lighting, plus an amazing sound system and generally vast size. Especially popular with young backpackers and skiers, Roket is Bariloche’s answer to the megaclubs in Europe’s ski resorts.

Los Vikingos

Bar, Argentina, Wine, Beer, Cocktails

An unusual Viking-themed bar, Los Vikingos is a small and laid-back joint with regular live music acts. The interior decorations include quirky pieces such as a miniature Viking longship, with a welcoming front porch outside. The clientele tends to be slightly older so it is a great spot for a more relaxed night, where the music is quiet enough to let patrons hold conversations.

La Cantina

Bar, South American

La Cantina is a reggae bar preferred by locals to the larger clubs such as Roket. La Cantina is much cheaper than most clubs or bars in the city so it’s perfect for cash-strapped travelers as well as locals just looking for a decent night out with friends. The music and ambiance is more fun and laid-back than regular clubs, and the place generally doesn’t take itself too seriously. The audience averages out at slightly older than the general age of club-goers, and it’s a great place for those who feel they’re too old for the thumping bass lines and sweltering heat of regular clubs.

Cervecería Manush

Gastropub, Bar, Pub, Pub Grub, Beer, Wine, Cocktails, Argentina

Another one of Bariloche’s excellent brewery pubs, Manush also boasts a delicious food menu. It serves around 13 different artisanal beers, including a Pilsner-style lager, an unusual chocolate milk stout, and a pale ale, which is their most popular. The inside is decked out in wood, as is so typical to the area, and has a good number of tables without being too large so as to lose the intimate atmosphere. All beer is, of course, brewed on site, and the food menu is also of excellent quality, offering dishes such as sharing platters designed to go perfectly with beer as well as classic pub meals. A sophisticated spot to try some of Bariloche’s best brews.

Wilkenny

Bar, Wine, Beer, Pub Grub, Cocktails

As Bariloche’s best Irish bar, Wilkenny is a haven for backpackers. For the city’s visiting crowds, Wilkenny is a sociable place to come and meet other like-minded folk, and share experiences over a pint. There is a fairly good selection of beers – although certainly not as good as other cervecerías – but the real pull of Wilkenny is the atmosphere. Friendly, laid-back and unpretentious, this bar is a great spot for anyone looking to soak up the traveler ambiance.

Genux

Genux is another one of Bariloche’s clubs, aimed at the younger market. It is designed with a futuristic theme, with a capacity of 1400 and a sophisticated VIP lounge. It has a number of different levels, walkways and balconies, with two dance floors and three bars. Another good option for a lively night out.

Konna Bar

Gastropub, Pub, Argentina, Wine, Beer, Cocktails

Konna Bar has a slightly different feel to the others on this list. It has more of an edgy cafe or bar atmosphere, but still offers a tasty range of home-brewed beers. The beer list is not as long as other cervecerías, but still has classic brews, such as an IPA or a stout. There is outside seating on the street, which becomes jam-packed at weekends. The food is also delicious, and they have a happy hour every day from seven to nine in the evening.
