It may already hold the crown for being the gambling capital of the world, but Macau is set on becoming the party capital, too. Macau’s nightlife has improved tenfold in recent years, and now it’s only after dark that this city truly comes alive. Offering some of Asia’s largest and most celebrated clubs, pulsing beats pumped out by world-renowned DJs, summer pool parties, sensational live music, one-of-a-kind bars, and world-class shows, a good night out in Macau has become the safest bet in the city. Here’s our pick of the top five places that make a night out in Macau truly unique…

Macau Soul

Macau Soul
This wine lounge is about as uniquely Macau as it gets. The perfect spot to gather together a few friends and spend an entire evening chatting over a few bottles of fine Portuguese wine and some tasty nibbles. Macau Soul is highly regarded locally for its cosy and relaxing atmosphere and its affable hosts Jacky and David, who are on hand to recommend the perfect wine for you. The lounge is unique, given that their entire wine list is exclusively made up of Portuguese wines. They offer over 600 labels, so don’t worry, they’ll be one on the list that will suit your fancy. Of course, with Macau being a former Portuguese colony and with Portuguese wines now even beating French and Italian wines to win top awards, Macau Soul is the perfect place to discover why Portuguese wines are suddenly so trendy.

Club Cubic

Bar

Club Cubic
Macau’s longest-running and most prestigious club, Cubic is known throughout the region and continues to draw in revellers from all over Asia to enjoy its first-class nightlife. Set across 30,000 sprawling square feet and two levels, the venue features everything from a laser-lit dance pool to a Gothic-style bar and Asia’s first Perrier-Jouet champagne bar. It’s probably easier to list the number of superstar DJs and music stars who haven’t performed here, as there have been so many that have. But in recent years, Cubic has hosted the likes of Flo Rida and Chris Brown, and leading DJs Tiësto and Steve Aoki. For those who fancy the star treatment themselves, the club includes five VIP rooms that overlook the giant performance stage below that continues to attract some of music’s biggest names. For Macau’s ultimate clubbing experience, Cubic is still where it’s at.

China Rouge

China Rouge
This swanky entertainment lounge has recently reopened. Once a private members-only club, it’s now open to the public but retains its classy atmosphere. Here, the interiors are styled on the glamour of old Shanghai and were famously designed by leading designer Alan Chan and inspired by seminal Art Deco painter and designer Erté. The lounge is now a great place to sit back and chill over a drink or two and some light snacks as you enjoy some of the best live music in town. The lounge showcases professional musicians and live bands from all over the world playing mostly smooth and easy live music. China Rouge is also known for its impressive cocktail list – some of its signature concoctions have even been award-winners. Where else can you sip on a Versace cocktail? Wine aficionados can choose from a carefully curated list of boutique wines and Champagnes.

Pacha Macau

Resort

Pacha Macau
Macau’s newest club, Pacha Macau, is the only branch of globally famous club brand Pacha in Asia and is the town’s largest nightclub. It brings Ibiza-style nightlife to Macau, with world-famous DJs behind the decks. Along with a 12,900-square-foot dance floor, Pacha Macau boasts a vast, palm tree-lined outdoor terrace complete with cabanas and water features, a backlit Champagne tunnel, and various private suites and VIP spaces. For a deluxe clubbing experience, this is where it’s at. It was only last year that the club held its official grand opening with world-renowned Colombian-American producer and DJ Erick Morillo on the decks. They’ve continued to host a consistent rotation of some of the best DJ acts from around the world. It’s a stylish and glamorous hangout. When Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio came to open a nearby casino resort, it was Pacha Macau where he partied the night away.

Sky 21

Bar

A great spot to take in the unique sights and sounds of Macau by night, mostly because it offers a spectacular view from high up on the 22nd floor of one of Macau’s tallest buildings. Split across two levels, you have gourmet Pan-Asian dining on the 21st floor and then live music, drinks galore, and the best place to view the dazzling Macau cityscape and chill under the stars on the 22nd floor at Sky B Bar Lounge. It’s the views that really make this place. But it also helps that there’s plenty of choice on offer when it comes to drinks, plus smart service to go with it. http://instagram.com/p/35soDyNua3/?tagged=sky21macau
