A Frequent Flyer and Travel Professional’s Favourite Flight in the World
There’s a full-service bar in Virgin Atlantic Upper Class and a luxury suite complete with a shower on Emirates First. In other words, airlines have really outdone themselves when it comes to a once-in-a-lifetime experience up in the air. But for those of us who tend to turn right when we hop on a plane, which flight should top our travel bucket list?
Flying first class is a rare occurrence for most people, but if you’re good about your air miles and exercise patience, the time will come when you can lounge like royalty aboard that luxury flight without having to cover the exorbitant costs. Julian Kheel, senior editor of online travel platform The Points Guy (TPG) has flown all over the world, but he reckons if you have the opportunity to turn left when boarding, make sure you do it on a Lufthansa flight.
“One of my all time favourites is Lufthansa first class international in and out of Germany,” he says. “It’s not even one of the top five in terms of being ultra luxurious, because airlines have got so fancy, but what I really love it about it is the attention to detail, the impeccable service by the flight crew and the incredible ground experience.”
For Kheel, despite the lack of your own personal mini bar, private suite or showers above the clouds, Lufthansa’s first is the ultimate bucket list flight. “There’s an entire separate terminal just for you in Frankfurt,” he explains. “They’ll return your rental car and you’re assigned your own personal agent to take care of you the whole time you’re on the ground.”
Customer service is what it is all about, says Kheel: “There’s a complimentary restaurant, bar, cigar lounge and showers all available for you as you wait for or arrive from your plane.”
To top it all off, when it’s time to board, “they put you in a Porsche or a Mercedes and drive you straight to your plane.”
This is one flight which you want to be delayed.
