Tangier is one of the many places in Morocco where it’s really peaceful to practice yoga. Although locals are not very familiar with it, a few Moroccans and expats offer classes or join classes since it’s a blissful place to practice. You will find peace within yourself while doing yoga in Tangier, maybe with the magnificent view of Europe right ahead, or in a calm and cosy yoga studio. Here are the best yoga studios in Tangier.

Mandalia Yoga

Cathedral, Yoga Studio

Mandalia Yoga is a yoga studio located right next to the Italian Catholic Cathedral. It was founded by Nada Abid, a qualified yoga teacher from Tunisia, who traveled throughout Asia to know more about yoga and meditation. In her studio, she offers Hatha Yoga, Morning Flow, Yin Yoga, Relaxation, Meditation and Yoga for Children. These tend to be in a group, but if you don’t fancy getting sweaty in front of everyone else, she also offers individual classes in her studio.

Tanger Yoga

Library, Yoga Studio

This little yoga studio is in the centre of Tangier in the middle of Instituto Cervantes of Tangier’s library. It opens from 6:30 to 7:45pm with lessons nearly everyday. You should always call to make sure when there are classes available.

Yoga à Tanger

This is not a yoga studio but it’s a group that organizes yoga sessions outdoors in the whole city of Tangier. Usually all yogis are women, who choose nice areas surrounded by plants to be able to breathe correctly and practice in peace. These classes are also quite cheap for what you would expect, starting at around 120MAD a session.

Yoga Tanger

This yoga studio is one of the best in Tangier with Meriem Tarîka as a teacher. Meriem is a certified teacher from the International Yoga Federation in Canada, she teaches both Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga, Yoga for Children and Therapeutic Yoga. Classes are four days a week, in both English and French, and for women as well as men.

Tangier Yoga Sangha

These yoga classes are led by Ruby Josephine, an American girl from Minnesota. Ruby grew up in the US and always dreamed of being a baker and racer, she then developed her skills and became a yoga teacher when she moved to Tangier. She uses breathing techniques in her classes to make them more bearable and calm the mind to bring peace to the soul. You can join in once a week on either Wednesdays or Thursdays for 500MAD a month.
