Lucille's

With TIME magazine having declared Lucille’s burgers the best in the world, Cairo visitors simply must stop by and taste the restaurant’s delightful delicacies for themselves. Owned by the restaurant’s namesake, Lucille, the friendly and helpful staff are referred to as her ‘family’, and are dedicated to upholding the restaurant’s reputation for serving the most succulent and juicy burgers in town. With tasty beef ground on the property, and all dressings and sauces made from scratch, customers are guaranteed an unparalleled freshness here which is hard to find elsewhere. Also serving Mexican and American inspired dishes as well as a tempting desert menu of cheesecake and pancakes, Lucille’s is a burger joint with a difference, and promises to have diners rushing back for more. Gourmet Burger

This quaint and cosy restaurant in the Zamalek area of town exudes a vibe more of a cafe than a burger joint, with its wooden tables and charming blackboards displaying the day’s choices and favorites. Locals who claim Gourmet as their burger joint of choice are fiercely loyal, claiming that its burgers are by far the best in the city, and it is easy to see why. With their ample portion sizes, signature thin and crispy potato fries and tasty burgers dripping with sauce, it is hard not to love the well-seasoned beef pattys served in fresh sesame rolls here. Offering up all of the old favorites alongside some innovative new creations, such as the Lebanese vegetarian burger packed with grilled halloumi cheese, Gourmet Burger takes its name seriously and is an expert when it comes to first-rate food. Featuring a small outdoor seating area, Gourmet Burger is a must-try when searching for a quick and casual dinner in Cairo. Loaded Cheeseburger | © Stuart/Spivack/Flickr

Butcher's Burger

This American themed restaurant features a cool, modern interior, with its exposed brick walls conjuring an atmosphere similar to any of New York’s best burger bars. Situated just off the banks of the Nile in the center of town, the terrace area out front is a perfect spot for people watching whilst enjoying a tasty meal. With a list of burgers incorporating the Hawaiian, topped with pineapple and Teriyaki sauce, to the Mighty Butcher, a meat and cheese extravaganza served with 300g of beef patty, caramelised onions, jalapeños and beef bacon, guests can branch out for some originality or choose to stick with the classics. Butcher’s Burger‘s sharing platter makes for a delicious appetizer for those wishing to tantalize their tastebuds before their burger arrives, and includes onion rings, mozzarella balls, chicken wings and nachos. Mince

A breakfast, brunch and burger restaurant, Mince serves up experimental combinations which diners will never have tasted before. The establishment aims to deliciously fuse the Egyptian tradition of rich flavors and spices with classic American recipes. Offering a ‘create your own burger’ menu, guests can choose which meat (or non meat option for vegetarians) they would like, alongside sauces, sides and toppings of their choice. Or select a dish from the Mince classics, such as the breakfast burger served with fried eggs, beef bacon and baked beans, or the Moroccan chicken burger served with caramelised onions, harissa and mint yoghurt. With its stylish and minimalist interior as well as an outside area with picnic style benches, Mince is a sociable venue. Be sure to ask servers what the monthly burger selection is, with new recipes being introduced every month. Photo Courtesy of Mince

BUNZ aims to add a little creativity to the classics. Making their burgers in-house, and using only the freshest meat, bread and vegetables, visitors can choose from an interesting menu offering fun burger variations. A top pick is the Wild West burger, served in a brioche bun brimming with tasty barbecue sauce and crispy fried onion rings. As for side dishes, diners can enjoy hand-cut sweet potato fries, sumptuous fried mushrooms and mozzarella bites, and potato skins loaded with tender cheddar cheese and smoky bacon pieces. With a light and airy, chic interior, as well as an outdoor area, diners can sit in and enjoy the scorching Cairo weather, or take dishes away for a heavenly meal at home.
