Local Insider Guide and Driver were superb
Excellent planning and conduct of the trip from pre-t thru entire trip Our Local Guide, German (pronounced Herman) was so knowledgeable and in tune with every aspect of the trip, from human culture and social challenges to all the challenges and successes for Costa Rican environments. The concept of sustainability was so evident in the coffee and cocoa plantations and the representatives of both of those were so personable in sharing every aspect of their production. Beyond that, or insider, German, was expert in bird identification and ecology which added so much to the experience. The hotels were all excellent although we did not favor the highly processed and bland food except that the fruit every morning was the best ever, so fresh and flavorful, and the coffee was superb. The food at the off-hotel places that our guide took us was wonderful, genuine and so enjoyable. All the people were so friendly and respectful and informative Our driver, Geraldo, was a gem! Very little English but we all had some Spanish and he had such a friendly, respectful and fun attitude and great driving skills. And with our small group, if we exclaimed "there's a sloth!! or "Monkeys!!" He immediately found a safe place to pull over and joined us with German to view and enjoy. German had a spotting scope and with that we could really see the monkeys, sloth, and many birds. We think the trip was carefully planned and a good value. It was our first guided trip and we do expect to enjoy more with Culture Trip

Greece Odyssey Experience, recommend this trip
I have been on two culture trips, Portugal and Greek odyssey. Both have been great. I traveled with my 3 adult daughters. We returned from Greece a month ago., June 3rd. Our accommodations were perfect, had a new guide upon arriving at each destination, which we enjoyed, all friendly and very knowledgeable and eager to converse. Our ferry trips to Naxos and Santorini were comfortable, with reserved seating inside. We were met promptly and easily at the pier upon arrival by our guide and driver. We visited the busy , tourist side of Santorini and the next day was taken to an organic farm on the quiet side of Santorini , enjoyed a tasty picnic dinner and stayed for a beautiful sunset. Our favorite was a three night stay in Naxos. We could easily walk to beach, town , shops, restaurants, A very relaxing experience. Culture trip provides excellent travel opportunities for a fair price.

Scotland by Train. Very hands on, a lot on your own. Carry own luggage.
When we were looking at a trip we would get frequent emails about updates, payments, changes in itinerary etc. The people sending emails appeared to be very responsive. However my concern and that of my travel companion is about the specific trip Scotland by rail. It sounded very romantic and adventurous to travel by train for portions of our trip. No one mentioned we'd be hauling our own luggage every where we went. On the train. On the coach. Into hotels. Out of hotels. This trip was very much hands on. And the train trips were nice enough but we had to jump on and off like everyone else and to me it felt very rushed. A lot was on our own. One example was our last dinner which was included. We were told the location but it was up to us to get there. Bus, uber, whatever. We had a group walking tour in Edinburgh but since our hotel was outside of town we had to get ourselves to the meeting point for the walk. Again more out of pocket expenses. On Skye our hotel was very nice but we had no dinner there. So the coach had to take us to one of two options. The prearranged dinner was something like £68 which was pricey and apparently not worth it. The only other option was another hotel was was booked for dinner or the nearby pub which we had to wait a long time for a table. All this was part of the adventure but left us scrambling on our own. Also the itinerary. Late night dinners had us getting to bed close to 11 or later and early morning wake up to leave. The first leg of the journey had us leaving London by train at 530 and taking 5 hours to get to Edinburgh then a coach ride to Glasgow. Why in the world leave London so late?? If you knew the train ride was 5 hours plus the long walk to the coach and another hour ride to just get to our hotel please start at noon. Food service on the train was extremely limited and we were eating crackers and trail mix just to live. The details of the itinerary were not thought out at all and the fact we had to haul luggage and get ourselves here and there is a definite vote for not repeating with this agency. Tony was great at our guide but he was scrambling all day every day just to get the next stop worked out.
