Pudong offers two quite different drinking scenes: one is all about bars with breathtaking views, while the other is a lot more down to earth. Either way, Culture Trip will guide you to the best bars to suit your drinking needs.
Did you know – Culture Trip now does bookable, small-group trips? Pick from authentic, immersive Epic Trips, compact and action-packed Mini Trips and sparkling, expansive Sailing Trips.
Pudong is separated into two distinct halves: the financial hub of Lujiazui, where you’ll find Shanghai’s tallest towers, and the quieter, open avenues of Pudong’s residential areas. The former area is home to glitzier establishments that offer views of The Bund and beyond. In the latter, a handful of fantastic local pubs with good beer and friendly staff will make you feel right at home.

Shanghai World Financial Center

Nestled inside the World Financial Center, Shanghai’s tallest building, is the Park Hyatt Hotel. Further inside is 100 Century Avenue Bar, the world’s second-highest bar and restaurant, which takes up the hotel’s top three floors. The venue’s cellar is stocked with the world’s finest wines, enticing Shanghai’s upper crust to come here and spend an evening. If you’re hungry, French and Japanese food and a wide selection of traditional Chinese delicacies are all available.

Jam76 Sports Bar

The busiest and most popular sports bar in Pudong offers a wide selection of beers and bar snacks, including delicious chicken wings and fries. Jam76 Sports Bar has become an ideal place for Shanghai’s workforce to enjoy a brew after a long week in the office. There are also TVs playing sports from all across the world, guaranteeing patrons will be able to catch up with all the games back home.

Craftbeer

One of the best things about The Brew is the generous five-hour happy hour that takes place from 3pm to 8pm every day, offering two-for-one deals on their home-brewed craft beers and ales. This fantastic Australian bar boasts a huge outdoor patio and beer garden, where people come (especially in the summer) to enjoy the locally brewed craft beers such as White Ant wheat ale and Razorback cider – all of which go perfectly with a few of their excellent Western-style bar snacks. The loaded nachos and charcoal chicken wings both come highly recommended.

Blue Frog

Blue Frog has become an increasingly popular restaurant-bar in Shanghai over the years, so much so that you can now find several of them dotted around the city. This branch, on Pudong’s Biyun Road, offers daily happy hours on selected drinks. This includes their cocktails, house wines and beers. The food menu includes every American standard you can imagine, the most famous of all being its delicious selection of burgers. The standout is the Mile High Beef Burger, topped with homemade bacon, onion sauce and garlic mayo.

The Irishman’s Pub

Any British or Irish visitor to Shanghai couldn’t ask for a more authentic home from home than The Irishman’s Pub. The venue offers a range of Irish beers and ales, such as Guinness and Kilkenny, served at a long wooden bar that proudly brandishes the pub’s name. The low lighting and walls adorned with old photographs and paintings hark back to the quiet country pubs of the British Isles, while being nestled in the heart of Pudong.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
