Campinas is one of the most important commercial cities in São Paulo state, with an international airport, a large downtown financial center and a string of top universities, including one of the best research institutions in Latin America, UNICAMP. Also one of the wealthiest cities in Brazil, it is within commutable distance of its commercial capital São Paulo and, like that city, it grew wealthy during the early 20th century coffee boom. Campinas hotels tend to be clustered in the central business district and around Viracopos airport. Here the best of the bunch – all bookable with Culture Trip.

It’s a good option for families who want to make day trips to the Hopi Hari theme park, a 20-minute drive away, and to have easy access to restaurants. There’s loads in store for young ones – a huge play area, seven swimming pools and a suite of restaurants with family-friendly menus. Rooms – from doubles to family-sized – are attractive hideaways with French doors and chintzy comforters. Get up in time for breakfast – it’s included in the room rate.

Decor is modern and minimalist – with blocks of light grey and dark woods offset by dark woods and splashes of business-suit-blue from cushions and lounge chairs. Facilities are good and include a rooftop swimming pool and fitness center with a view, onsite parking and big breakfasts. In short – this place is the business.
