The imposing neo-Gothic architecture of the St. Mary’s Cathedral was constructed over three centuries ago. Even though it has been renovated extensively over the centuries, the tall structure and the impressive architectural feat of blending the new part with the old is remarkable in itself. Try to visit at 11 am on Sunday to experience the bells ringing out.
An oasis of relaxation and peace can be found close to the heart of the city. King’s Park and the Botanic Garden in Perth are one of the top must-see destinations for all visitors and tourists. Offering spectacular views of the Swan River and Darling Range, as well as panoramic views over the city, the King’s Park is one of the world’s most spectacular parks and is dedicated to the variety of native Australian plants and birds. Rare native plants of Western Australia, an acacia garden, and a water garden give you a first idea of the Australian nature and its magnificent and unique landscapes.
A collection of both Australian and international works of art spanning 1829 to present day can be explored in the Art Gallery of Western Australia. Focusing the selection on works from the Indian Ocean Rim and Australia, as well as a mixture of traditional and contemporary indigenous art, this Art Gallery in the Perth Cultural Centre is the place for all visitors to discover and become more familiar with the Australian art genres and culture. You will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of works of Hans Heysen, McCubbin and other contemporary artists.
The State War Memorial is a part of King’s Park and is one of the most popular historic monuments in Perth. The construction of the War Memorial started in 1928 and was completed just a year later, enclosing an inner chamber in which you will find all the names of men and women from Western Australian who were killed during World War I. It is a memorial to all the heroes, representing their bravery and reminding some of the darkest pages in the Australian history. Considering also the location, the War Memorial offers spectacular views of the city of Perth.
The Swan River is known as a fantastic place for relaxing in the riverside parks, or for swimming or kayaking. The history behind the name comes from local aboriginals who believed that a rainbow serpent known as the Wagyl created this river. Try one of the many outdoor activities or take a river cruise to the historic port of Fremantle.

Have you ever been curious to watch how pure gold is poured to form a solid gold bar? In the Melting House at the Perth Mint, visitors are given the opportunity to watch the transformation of the pure liquid gold into a gold bar, as well having the opportunity to admire and explore the world’s largest collection of natural gold nuggets and gold bars. You will also see the world’s largest gold coin, worth more than $700,000 and made from 1 tonne of pure gold.
The Perth Zoo was opened in 1898 and is located about 3km from the city center. Featuring kangaroos, koalas, wombats, Tasmanian devils, as well as exhibits from the Australian Bushwalk and Wetlands to give visitors the experience of different ecosystems and unique imposing landscapes. The Zoo is home to more than 1,500 animals in total, and you can interact and ‘play’ with them, with giraffe feeding and elephant shows.
Adventure World is the only Theme or Water Park that you will find in Perth. But what makes it so special? Adventure World has the tallest, longest and steepest Tornado waterslide on the planet. With the recently opened Kraken, you can enjoy more than 25 rides and attractions such as the popular ‘Australian’s Best Roller Coaster’ by the founder of the Australian Coaster Club. Only 15 minutes by car from the city of Perth, this Water Park should not be missed.
Scitech
Scitech is an innovative and interactive educational science center. Located in the heart of the city, this science center is considered Western Australia’s leading science education institution.
