The Yoga Garage – Scarborough

The warmth from the friendly staff at The Yoga Garage extends into its yoga classes. Specialising in hot yoga, Sumit’s hot vinyasa flow, yin yoga and hot core pilates, this family-orientated studio has mounted heaters hidden in the ceiling. The light-filled space has mirrors decorating the walls to showcase body alignment, but don’t be alarmed, the instructors use clear language, making it easy to follow classes. The Yoga Garage attracts a diverse crowd of all ages and has a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, which is apparent in the way it gives back in community-based projects such as its involvement with the non-profit Classroom of Hope organisation.

YogaLab – Fremantle

You’d be hard-pressed to find a yoga studio more charming than The YogaLab. Located in Fremantle’s historic Westend, The YogaLab can be found on the second floor of a beautifully converted 1920s warehouse. The dark hardwood floors and high white beams will bring about a state of calmness as soon as you walk through the doors. Perched above The Raw Kitchen on the mezzanine level, you can continue your self-care by purchasing a vegan treat when you exit.

Rooftop Yoga – Northbridge

Possibly Perth’s most unique yoga studio, Rooftop Yoga infuses movement, mindfulness and open skies. Located on the top floor of the Roe Street car park, you’ll find yourself practising your downward dog under the sun, surrounded by colourful chairs. The crowd skews younger and classes are ideal for beginners. The seasonal classes are the ultimate outdoor fitness choice. Try and make the sunset flow yoga class that runs on select Mondays in summer.

Kookaburra Creek Yoga Centre – Bedfordale in the Perth Hills

Kookaburra Creek Yoga Centre is the ultimate retreat for traditional yogis seeking to escape into the wilderness. This bush sanctuary is the only purpose-built yoga retreat in Western Australia. The main room is built from natural wood and glass, according to Vastu Shastra design principles. Glass windows adorn the eight walls, looking out on stunning views of the marri treetops. Classes are based on traditional yoga, with a focus on yogic values of kindness and compassion. If you require maximum tranquillity, Kookaburra Yoga is the place to be.

Tamara Yoga – Claremont

Tamara Yoga is a bright studio located in the fashionable and high-end Claremont quarter. The studio is run by yoga teacher Tamara Graham, who learned how to practise yoga in New York and believes that there is a type of yoga for everyone. That’s evident in her individual classes, which include the Anxiety Relief Course. The classes are grounded in ISHTA (Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda) and are very popular with the hip yogis in Perth.

iThrive – West Leederville

iThrive is a multidisciplinary healthcare and wellness centre, complete with its own yoga studio. Located in the trendy and family-orientated suburb of West Leederville, the tiny studio is hidden behind a garage door and leafy garden wall. The classes on offer here tend to have more of a clinical feel due to the healthcare practice behind the brand. There are also more specialised classes, including kids yoga as well as prenatal and postnatal yoga. Mat spaces are limited due to the studio’s size, so booking is a must. Grab a coffee afterwards from popular neighbourhood cafe, Hylin.

Yoga Corner – Carine

Sisters Chole and Odette run Yoga Corner, offering balanced yoga practices that flow from dynamic asana to deep stillness. If you’re new to yoga, look no further than this spacious studio in the suburban area of Carine. The studio has various props, such as meditation cushions, blankets, bolsters as well as the standard yoga mats for student use. The instructors teach a wide school of yoga, including vinyasa, ashtanga, yin, restorative, pre and postnatal, and kids yoga.

Studio Équilibre – Laithlan

Looking for something a little different than your usual yoga class? While yoga studios dominate Perth, pilates studios are appearing at a rapid rate. Technically, Studio Équilibre focuses on pilates and reformers, but with a space this hip it’s hard to ignore. Located next to trendy cafe, Laika, which boasts some of the best coffee in Perth, along with a space to shoot hoops, it’s an intimate studio that will compliment your yoga routine with a focus on strength.

Clear Mind Studio – Perth

A recent addition to the Perth yoga scene, Clear Mind Studio opened in 2019 much to the delight of the neighbourhood. In the light-filled studio the decor is all about curves and circular designs, which symbolise unity and togetherness. More than just a yoga studio, Clear Mind also prides itself on being a wellness centre for everyone. The yoga classes cater to all levels, from beginners to the experienced. Head over to the on-site tea lounge before or after your class to unwind.
