Ocean Shores is a strange place – originally intended as a getaway for the rich and famous, it never quite worked out that way. Today, this low-key beach town southwest of Seattle enjoys its front-row seat to the Pacific and an interesting layout – which includes a network of canals and a serene inland lake. Whether you seek your fill of sunsets, seafood or small-town quiet, here are our picks of budget-friendly places to stay in Ocean Shores, Washington – bookable on Culture Trip.

1. Ocean Paradise Hotel and Resort, for ocean views and mini-golf games

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean from this modest budget motel near the small commercial center of Ocean Shores. Many rooms have ocean views, though it’s a short walk across sand dunes to the beach. Rates include breakfast and a round on the small miniature golf course. Pet owners will find a handy dog run, and there’s convenient guest laundry here as well.

2. Quinault Beach Resort, for spa days and casino nights

A good value 3mi (5km) north of town, this tribal-owned resort checks all the boxes for a budget beach getaway – as long as you don’t spend too much time in the casino or the spa, of course. Updated rooms have new bedding and carpets, and while the least expensive ones don’t have ocean views, the beach is just a short stroll away.

3. Best Western Lighthouse Suites Inn, for fitness fanatics

There really is a little lighthouse-themed observation tower – plus a pool, hot tub and fitness center – here at this popular mini-suites motel. It’s closer to the beach and a bit more upscale than some other local motels, especially if you spring for a room with a balcony or fireplace. Rates include a nice breakfast spread each morning that will help stretch your food budget further.

5. BayVue Hotel, Resort and Suites, for a hearty breakfast

The BayVue – formerly known as the MorningGlory Hotel and under new management in 2021 – remains a fairly scruffy place, but the rates are low and it’s close to the beach. The indoor pool and hot tub are nice perks on stormy days. Save money by filling up at the hot breakfast buffet and by buying picnic provisions at the IGA, a short walk away.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet.
